Introductory Message
For the facilitator:
Welcome to the English Grade 2 module on Action
Word or (Verb).
This module was collaboratively designed,
developed and reviewed by educators both from public
and private institutions to assist you, the teacher or
facilitator in helping the learners meet the standards set
by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their personal,
social, and economic constraints in schooling.
This learning resource hopes to engage the learners
into guided and independent learning activities at their
own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to help
learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking
into consideration their needs and circumstances.

For the learner:


Welcome to the English Grade 2 Alternative Delivery
Mode (ADM) Module on Action Word (Verb).
The activities in this module are arranged sequentially
to help you understand the topic and develop the
desired skill or learning competency.
As a learner, you must learn to become responsible
of your own learning. Take time to read, understand, and
perform the different activities in the module. If there are
things you don’t understand, do not hesitate to call your
facilitator / teacher for assistance.
The following are some reminders in using this
module:

Let Us Learn
Good day! How are you, my dear learners! In
this module, you will learn the very important part of a
sentence which is the verb. Why do I say important? It is
because we cannot make a sentence without a verb.
What is a verb by the way? Hmmm, it is an action
word, meaning anything that you do that requires or
needs action is called a verb. I think you are now excited
to answer one of the activities in this module, so let’s start
the ball rolling!

After going through this module, you are expected to:


1. Identify action word/verb based on the given
pictures and in the sentence;
2. Recognize action word/verb from a group or set of
words;
3. Use common action word/verb in the retelling,
conversation, etc.(EN1G-IIa-e-3,4).

Activity 1: Use Me!


DIRECTIONS: Read and analyze each sentence below.
Choose your answer from the words in the box and write it

Let Us Study

Can you recall activity 1 which you answered just a


couple of minutes ago? It was about using action word in
a sentence correctly.
What is meant by verb?
As I mentioned earlier, a verb is an action word.
Anything that you do that requires action is called a verb.
Verb is needed when you construct sentences. To
construct a sentence, it needs a noun or pronoun and a
verb, therefore a noun or pronoun and a verb work
together to make a sentence simple yet meaningful.

Examples : The underlined and italicized word is the


action word or verb.

1. He peeps at the window.

pronoun serves as the subject in the sentence

2. Bella dances gracefully.

3. The player kicks and shoots the ball.

Activity 4-B: Make a Line Under Me!


Directions: Read carefully the short story in the box and

Kindred loves dog. One day, he asks his Mom


if he can have one. So, since his Mom also loves
dog, she buys one and she named it Julia. Julia
drinks milk every morning. Kindred and his Mom
feed Julia every day. They enjoy taking care of
Julia. They love Julia very much.
