HOUSEKEEPING PERSONNEL
The housekeeping tasks are distributed to housekeeping personnel who are designated to perform
the following functions and responsibilities.
Executive Housekeeper or Housekeeping Manager
Basic Functions: Ensures that the flow of operation within the Housekeeping Department is smooth
and efficient and sees to it that the housekeeping maintenance is carried out in accordance with prescribed
standards and policies.
A. Planning Functions
● Determines the operational needs of his/her department and coordinates with the purchasing
department for the procurement of the needed items.
● Creates plans and strategies geared toward the attainment of the formulated goals and targets.
● Monitors operational consumption against the submitted operational budget.
● Takes corrective actions for any problem that might affect the operation of his/her department.
● Attends customers' complaints and coordinates with other departments concerned to take the
necessary actions.
● Presides over operational meetings together with other supervisors.
B. Organizational Functions
● Identifies tasks to be done and assigned it to the staff.
● Review and upgrade job description, procedure and operational procedures as needed.
● Delegates side duties to his subordinates .
C. Direction Function
● Conducts orientation and training with the housekeeping personnel.
● Conducts inspection to ensure that the housekeeping standards are complied.
● Prepares and submit reports such as incident reports, budget variance reports inventory report
and other documents.
● Supervises section heads and boost employee morale through training and motivational
techniques.
● Coordinated periodic inventory of housekeeping items and supplies, keeps records of losses and
breakdown of equipment; initiates requisition as needed.
● Coordinates closely with the Front office regarding the room status and room booking as well as
changes with the room assignment and reservation.
● Coordinates with the facilities and maintenance section regarding the required repairs and
malfunction of equipment and room facilities.
D. Controlling Function
● Ensure that the housekeeping policies are well carried out by the respective units under his
supervision.
● Controls and monitors expense and takes appropriate action against excessive consumption.
● Evaluates subordinate’s performance and conducts appraisal interviews.
● Enforces disciplinary action and conducts corrective interviews against erring employees.
● Monitor equipment’s proper use, storage, and maintenance .
E. Guest Relation
● Checks customer’s satisfaction solicits feedback and attends to customer's needs.
● Handles guest complaints and takes necessary action.
● Perform other related functions assigned by his/her supervisor.
Housekeeping Supervisor -Supervise housekeeping and laundry staff when they are performing their duties.
Duties and responsibilities
● Stock and maintain any housekeeping supply room.
● Determine and process all guest complaints.
● Check all guest rooms are ready for arrival.
● Check that all common areas are hazard free and ready for guests.
1. Conduct daily morning meetings with housekeeping staff and organize all staff daily.
2. Ensure a high level of customer service is maintained at all times.
3. Assist guests with all questions and reasonable requests.
4. Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
Room Maintenance Supervisor Monitors the status of each room. Directs and controls room keeping
activities that includes makeup room, installation of mini bar and other room amenities. He/she also ensures
conformity with the prescribed standards and policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
● Conducts routine inspection to check that each room is installed with standard room amenities, free
from any hazard and if there is anything that needs repair. Coordinates with the Maintenance unit
for requests for repairs and maintenance.
● Prepares and distribute room status reports to Front Desk and room attendants.\
● Inform the front desk regarding the changes of room status and bookings.
● Monitors the condition of equipment and initiates service requests for defective items.
● Conducts weekly inventory of room and housekeeping supplies.
● Reports losses and damage and makes requisition if needed and takes corrective action with the
reckless use of equipment.
● Attends guest complaints, inquiries and requests and relates any unusual incidents and accidents
with the supervisor.
● Performs other related duties assigned by his/her supervisor.
Head Housemen and Public Area Supervisor Directs and controls activities that concern public area
maintenance as well as ensuring conformity with the prescribed housekeeping standards and policies .
Duties and Responsibilities
● Maintains the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of all the hotel’s public area.
● Conducts regular inspection with the different public areas.
● Ensures that all fixtures and furniture are installed properly.
● Monitors and supervises the proper use, storage, and maintenance of cleaning equipment and so
with the housekeeping tool and supplies.
● Makes requisition to replenish supplies.
● Initiate and conduct weekly inventory.
● Reports losses and damages, takes corrective action against reckless use of equipment.
● Reports to management all unusual incidents and accidents within the pubic area, safety hazard
and other items that need repair or replacement.
● Trains, coaches, and supervises his/her staff.
● Evaluates his/her subordinates’ performance and conducts appraisal interviews.

Room-boy/Room Attendants, and Chambermaid Maintains the cleanliness and upkeep of all the guest
room and service areas assigned to him/her.

Duties and Responsibilities


● Maintains the cleanliness, orderliness, and sanitation of his/her assigned guestroom.
● Cleans walls, carpet, and fixtures by following the standard cleaning procedures.
● Sanitizes toilet and bathroom.
● Changes/empties waste basket or garbage cans.
● Collects all used/soiled linen and replenishes it with fresh ones.
● Look after the orderly make-up of the guestroom, bed, and the bathroom.
● Monitors the condition of all the guest room facilities and fixtures and reports any defect to the
supervisor for corrective action to be taken.
● Installs and replenishes standard room amenities.
● Performs turn-down service if scheduled for the second shift.
● Attending the house guest needs an additional request.
● Assist in the inventory of guest room supplies and linens.
● Prepares daily accomplishment reports to be submitted to his/her supervisor.
● Conducts fumigation with the assigned guestroom if needed.
● Reports damage equipment, fixture, furniture, and lost and found items to supervisor.
Mini Bar Runner/Mini Bar Attendant The person in charge of mini-bar installation such as listing,
replenishing and inventory of supplies and other related functions.
Duties and Responsibilities
● Maintains par stocks and makes requisition to replenish used stocks.
● Monitors sales movement of stocks, makes sales reports and coordinates with the supervisor
regarding the slow-moving and non-moving items. Take note of salable and non-salable to have
an accurate basis for requisition and ordering of stocks.
● Conducts inventory and keeps records of mini bar consumption per room.
● Assists with the housekeeping stockroom inventory and so with the vacant, occupied ant check-out
rooms.
● Prepare billing of min bar consumption giving priority to rooms occupied by guests who are about
to check out.
● Coordinates with the front office cashier for billing of late charges and with other staff in collecting
bills of guests and other hotel skipper.
● Accomplished the schedule replenishment of supplies for the day.
● Determines the availability of mini-bar stocks and updates individual receipts distributed in each
guestroom accordingly.
● Collects empty mini-bar bottles, cans from different floors, pantries, and guestrooms.
● Determines the accuracy of records, inventories, and billing by checking the sales records from
time to time.
● Checks the expiration dates of each item for prompt replenishment and returns spoiled stocks
before the month ends and submits reports to supervisor or the Cost Control section.
Linen and Uniform Attendant - This person is responsible for storing and issuing uniforms, bed linen and
table linen. He or she also takes stock and maintains linen room supplies.
Duties and responsibilities:
● Sorts items and counts and records numbers if items soiled.
● Place linen and uniforms in containers for transport to laundry.
● Examines laundered items to ensure cleanliness and serviceability.
● Sends torn articles to the seamstress for repair.

Stores laundered linen and uniforms on shelves after verifying numbers and type of articles.

soiled basis only.
Housemen - Person in-charge to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of public areas.
Duties and Responsibilities.
● Secures cleaning supplies, materials and equipment and monitors its proper use, storage, and
maintenance.
● Check the location, condition, and arrangement of the fixture to make sure that it is clean and
properly installed.
● Cleans and sanitizes areas assigned to him especially the public comfort rooms following the
standard cleaning procedures.
A. Vacuums/shampoos carpets and upholstered furniture.
B. Sweeps/scrubs/polishes floors and walls
C. Polishes/dust fixtures.
D. Cleans ceiling, exhaust, and glass panels.
E. Collects and disposes of garbage and litter.
F. Change/ cleans ashtrays.
G. Disinfect toilet bowls and urinals.
● Replenish supplies in public comfort rooms like paper towels, toilet tissue, soap etc.
● Reports all noted damage and out of order facilities that includes defective cleaning equipment,
sink, toilet bowl and locks, busted bulbs, torn carpet, crack on walls, clogged floor drain and ceiling
leaks.
● Conducts fumigation in case that the pest control technician is not available.
● Reports guests’ complaints, suspicious objects turn-over to him and so with lost and found articles.
● Prepares and submit daily accomplishment reports to his/her supervisor.
● Perform other related duties assigned to him/her.

Powder Girl -The person in-charge in keeping the cleanliness of ladies’ comfort and locker room.
Duties and Responsibilities
● Maintains stock of cleaning supplies and makes requisition if needed.
● Cleans ladies’ comfort and locker rooms regularly following the standard procedure.
a. Disinfect toilet bowls.
b. Cleans, scrubs and wipe dry floors, walls, and tiles.
c. Polishes metal fixtures and fumigate the area if needed.
d. Dispose garbage, wash, and dry garbage bins regularly.
e. Replenish toilet supplies and amenities such as bathroom tissue, toilet paper, paper towels,
hand soap, soap etc.
● Checks the fixture condition and toilet facilities like leaking faucets, defective tiles, shower head,
sink etc. and submit a written report to the supervisor.
● Retouches cleaning from time to time.
● Assist in other housekeeping jobs and issuance of linen when not loaded.

Gardener and Ground Maintenance Crew - They are responsible for maintaining the ground that
includes plants and landscape.
Duties and Responsibilities
● Sweeps and cleans the ground daily following the standard procedures.
● Maintains supplies for plants and ground maintenance.
● Makes requisition to replenish stocks.
● Take care of plants, prune leaves, weed and dry out leaves and apply fertilizer.
● Maintains landscape and ensures that everything is in order.
● Cultivates plants through planting and scouts for ornamental plants.
● Performs other duties like cleaning the pool area, fountain, facade, gardens, motor-pool and other
related areas.
A. Pest Control Technician
⮚ Responsible for the prevention and control of pests.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Searches for areas where pests might proliferate such as patches, holes, and other entry points.
2. Checks possible sources and causes of the proliferation of pests and other insects.
3. Makes reports and recommendations to enhance the situation.
4. Performs fumigation in accordance with the prescribed procedures.
5. Performs other related duties.
B. Cloak Room Attendants (Room Attendants

by the management for the guest rooms.
