1. Introduction and Brief description of the course

The course is included in the minor of micro practices in order to make the social work students
familiar with the social work practices in the school settings. The recent paradigm of social
work discipline is engaging with the children and schooling in more critical way that require a
specialised training in understanding its theory and practice. This course would provide basic
introduction to the theories of schooling, educational philosophy and various intervention
models in working with the school settings.

2. Course Objectives
a. Explore theoretical frameworks and critical perspectives in school social work.
b. To provide a basic understanding over the setting of school social work and the role
of social worker in its various domains
c. To familiarise with the basic theories on schooling and School Social Work
d. To orient the students on various intervention in the school setting as social work
practice
e. To form the basic skills among the students to become professional social workers in
the school setting
