GENUINE STUDENT TEST

Tran Thi Quynh

INTRODUCTION

I am Tran Thi Quynh, 22 years old now, and residing in Le Thuy District, Quang Binh
Province, Vietnam. Here comes a statement representing profile details and why I
aspire to acquire a Cert III and Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care at
Rhodes International College, Sydney, Australia.
Wish that this statement works as a part-and-parcel components in my student visa
application, sending me a ticket to enter Australia to build up my foundation before
coming back to Vietnam and kicking off my career.

PERSONAL BACKGROUND
I come from a close-knit family of five, including my parents, my younger sister and
brother. My upbringing was filled of laughter and joy as my parents always set aside
the best things for our education.

Recently, I, like many peers of mine over there, always harbored dreams of my
future career. In my family, one common profession that many relatives is teaching.
Under my long-lasting family tradition, I decided to give it a try soon.

In 2020, I took the university entrance exam with two combinations: C03 (scoring
26.5 - failing to enter the People's Police Academy) and C00 (scoring 27 - admitted
to the Law Faculty of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law). Despite being accepted
into the Law program, I chose not to pursue it and instead opted to retake the exam
for the Police Academy, hoping to fulfill my initial dream. However, due to excessive
concern about the results and self-imposed pressure, I failed again in the second
attempt. During that time, I fell into a state of depression and gradually withdrew
from social interactions.

After my upper high school graduation in 2020, I sought several local part-time jobs
instead of directly enrolling to a university or college, leaving me chances to
interact with children early on. I first came to Panda center, a vivid and flexible
learning environment for my first hands-on exposure to young minds. Throughout
the exam preparation process, I realized that I really enjoyed learning English and
playing with children. Being with children, I feel like myself; I want to care for and
educate them, watch them grow up gradually, and be educated with modern,
intelligent methods. At that point, I could determine if this career fit me and then
formed my next step in choosing an intensive course or academic program for
further study.

Now, I am currently working in An Tue Center (Specialized School) as a supporting

teacher, from 2021 up to now. Here comes my center’s Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/. There, I am in charge of picking up children, teaching
new lessons daily, giving them milk, snacks and food, feeding them with nutrious
meals, teaching them sleep, organizing stunning and catchy activities, fostering
teamwork and flexibility. God blessing these kids! In fact, they are retarded
children. Mentally retardation strip them of ability to grow and learn things in
normal ways, thus to me, it’s a huge shortcoming if I can’t help them and give them
all good lessons I can do for them. Albeit communication skill shortage, these
children always try to express their love to me, in one way or another. The biggest
hardship is communication, including both verbal and non-verbal. They do not
understand or cannot use language to express their wishes or speak out their
feelings.

I, as an active girl, also make my way entering some charity works for kids. For
example, on the latest Children International Date, I joined in one movement with
my peers. It was when I felt most at peace and it’s happy to see all children
surrounding me giggling and smiling with gifts and games.

During work, realizing my lack of profound knowledge into pre-schooling concept, I

got to turn over a new chapter: studying early childhood education abroad in
Australia. Furthermore, I chose to study abroad not only to improve my English
proficiency but also gain sufficient knowledge in this field with world-class
qualifications.
While the Vietnamese courses fails to meet me wants in just focusing on hands-on
experiences and full skills learning in short time. Indeed, university and college
education programs make me feel a bit low due to many general units and long-
lasting courses – up to 4 years at all.
Whereas, Australian courses, are much shorter with 2 years only but finish with a
Certificate and a Diploma recognized worldwide, sending me chances to work in
different establishments, including domestic and international vibes. Nothing is
better than investing smartly in self-education, then I would impart my value to the
young generations and my fellows. Like the way I do the volunteer work, giving
things is receiving some precious things back. I had drawn all steps and plans with
good jobs and efforts to get success soon.

WHY I CHOOSE THIS CAREER PATH – EARLY CHILDHOOD

EDUCATION AND CARE
I have a friendly - approachable appearance and attitude, which makes many
children fond of me. As a result, I have developed a deep affection for children and
often take care of them whenever my family and my kindergarten organize
gatherings or ceremonies. What’s more, my extended family has a tradition in two
professions: teaching and law enforcement. This has significantly influenced my
career direction. My aunt, my father's younger sister, currently works in the field of
early childhood education and has advised me to pursue this path.

The combination of my love for children and the promising career prospects has
sparked my enthusiasm to venture into the field of early childhood education. I
realize that this is a path full of potential for my future. "Children are the future of
the nation" – this saying always motivates me to strive to bring the best to them.
Furthermore, in today's globalized world, English has become a widely spoken
language worldwide. Combining educating children with teaching English is the goal
I aspire to get.

As the quality of life improves, the government's trade connection and development
policies have also brought about many changes in the mindset of Vietnamese
people regarding their children's education. Previously, kindergartens mainly
focused on teaching children how to read and write, but now, early childhood
education prioritizes the comprehensive development of other skills such as
communication, foreign languages, soft skills, and critical thinking.

Therefore, the demand for recruiting teachers with international degrees, expertise,
and high skills at international and private kindergartens is a top priority. To be able
to join the dream international kindergartens, I would normally need at least four
years to earn a bachelor's degree and additional international certificates. However,
if I study for an early childhood education diploma at Rhodes College, it will only
take me about two years, and I will be granted a degree and certificates from
Australia that are recognized worldwide.

This has prompted my desire to study abroad in early childhood education so that
when I return, I can teach children in an international-standard environment. I
believe that with the knowledge and experience gained from an international
environment, I will be able to provide an advanced early childhood education,
helping children develop not only in knowledge but also in language skills, preparing
them well for future integration.

This choice stems not only from my passion and personal interests but also from the
support and guidance of my family. I believe that with determination and relentless
effort, this new path will bring me many opportunities and successes. I am ready to
move forward, hoping to contribute to building a better educational environment for
children in Vietnam.

ANYWHERE ELSE EXCEPT RHODES INTERNATIONAL

COLLEGE IN AUSTRALIA?
After deciding to pursue a degree in early childhood education, I researched various
study abroad programs and came across the vocational diploma program in early
childhood education in Australia. Learning about Rhodes International College's
exchange program, I chose to study there. Having completed 10 weeks of study in
Vietnam, I am determined to continue my education and gain practical experience
by studying and interning in Australia.
Rhodes International College is renowned as one of the newest and finest
institutions in Sydney. Currently, the college focuses on four main fields: Early
Childhood Education and Care, Information Technology, Community Services, and
Marketing and Communication. Among these, early childhood education shines the
brightest. I trust in choosing Rhodes and hope that the college will propel me
towards achieving my dreams.

Studying in Australia offers numerous advantages, including high-quality education,

an international and multicultural environment, internship programs, excellent
living conditions, and ample career opportunities.

Compared to my homeland, Vietnam, Australia's education system emphasizes

practical learning and diverse teaching methods, fostering students' critical thinking
and creativity. The multicultural environment will allow me to interact with foreign
teachers, learn from modern mindsets, and gain valuable experiences. This
exposure will enhance my English communication skills and build the confidence
needed to excel in an international workplace, even when I return to Vietnam.

Moreover, the courses at Rhodes College will equip me with a strong skill set
through various practical internship programs. These opportunities will allow me to
practice technical skills and apply learned knowledge to real-life situations. With
such advantages, my professional profile may stand out among other candidates,
increasing my chances of securing a position in international kindergartens or
preschools with higher salaries.

Living in Australia is an ideal choice compared to other popular study abroad

destinations like the United States, Canada, or England. The closer distance means
it takes only about eight hours to travel to Australia, whereas other countries may
require a day-long journey. The beautiful weather and atmosphere are suitable for a
tropical area resident like me, allowing me to live healthily and enjoyably. The
heavenly scenery, cool temperate climate, and clear blue skies make Australia my
dream place to live. Lastly, the high standard of living safety and educational
neighborhoods in Australia have solidified my determination to study and live in this
country.
PLANS AFTER RETURNING BACK TO VIETNAM
The program at Rhodes includes both study and internship, spanning approximately
2 years and 3 months. By the end of the course, I hope to feel more confident in my
English proficiency and equipped with valuable lessons and experiences to bring
back to my homeland. Although I am from Quang Binh, I currently have a boyfriend
in Ho Chi Minh City. Therefore, upon returning to Vietnam, I plan to get married and
seek employment at an international preschool in Ho Chi Minh City.

Ho Chi Minh City, renowned as the most dynamic and vibrant city in Vietnam, is not
only famous for its thriving economy but also for its increasingly elevated living
standards. Here, parents always aspire for their children to receive education in a
nurturing, happy, and comprehensive environment. With advanced international
programs that combine theory with practicality, the dream of a brighter future for
their children becomes more achievable than ever.

I believe that Ho Chi Minh City is a fertile land where I can apply and maximize the
valuable experiences I have accumulated during my studies in Australia. From
advanced educational methods to lessons in creativity and critical thinking, all of
these are precious assets that will enable me to contribute to the education system
in Vietnam.

As a passionate young individual, I have decided to venture away from my family,

experiencing life and learning from progressive aspects in your country. This choice
not only expands my horizons but also provides me with deep knowledge and
essential skills for personal development. Upon my return, I will carry with me
everything I have learned, from practical experiences to cultural values, to fully
dedicate myself to the education sector in Vietnam.
FINANCIAL CAPACITY

I chose the early childhood education diploma program in Australia because the
cost of studying abroad is suitable for my family's financial situation. The tuition fee
for the program is approximately 10,000 USD per year, which is a reasonable
amount and within my family's budget. My parents are very happy and eager for me
to study and develop in Australia. With their full support and financial backing, I feel
incredibly fortunate and reassured. Currently, my parents run a snakehead fish
export farm with a stable income, so I don't have to worry about finances. I believe
that with this support, I will be able to focus on my studies and personal
development, thereby building a solid future and bringing pride to my family.

homeland. After completing my studies in Australia, I intend to return to Vietnam to
