The effects of jigsaw instructional strategy in students learning outcome in secondary school mathematics

The study sought to answer the following research question
(1) The validity of the modify lesson in terms of organizations, accuracy and format
(2) What is the level of performance of the students of the control and experimental groups in pretest and
post test
(3) How efficient and effective is the jigsaw instructional strategy in improving student performance
(4) What are the student's learning experience through the jigsaw classroom instructional strategy in
mathematics
7. (i) Specific Objectives of Research:
The specific objectives of the study are to
(a) examine the effects of jigsaw and conventional strategy on the performance of senior secondary
school mathematics in osun state
(b) assess the effects of jigsaw and conventional strategy on interest of senior secondary school
mathematics in osun state
(c) examine the effects of jigsaw and conventional strategy on the retention of senior secondary school
mathematics in osun state.
(ii) Expected Contribution to Knowledge:
The knowledge aims to enrich students to take charge of their learning,aid retention,peer tutoring
retrieval of formulae and share different method of solving approach to mathematical problems in
mathematics classroom and it will also increase the participation of each student in classroom instructions

8. Methodology:
The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of jigsaw instructional strategy on students learning outcome
in mathematics,the research use descriptive - developmental research design utilizing content and the
mathematics analysis.The study use the pretest and post test scores of students were subjected to descriptive
statistics analysis.
