Barangay Issue: Teenage pregnancy


Stakeholder needs:
- The barangay Sagat, located in Cordon, Isabela, is a lively community known for its
cultural heritage and natural beauty. However, it faces a significant challenge: The high
number of teenage pregnancies. For this reason, Community leaders are urged to
advocate for resources and programs that bolster reproductive health education and
family planning services. Efforts should focus on providing comprehensive sex
education, increasing access to reproductive health services, and implementing
community-based programs that empower young individuals with the knowledge and
resources to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health.
Strategic Thrusts
Where are we now:
The barangay Sagat faces a critical challenge due to the high number of teenage
pregnancies. According to the barangay captain, there is one area in the barangay named “lakob”
as one of the highest numbers of teenage pregnancies. This place is known as below poverty area
and as a production area for children.
Where do we want to be (Vision):
A future where teenage pregnancies are rare, and young people have the knowledge and
support to make healthy choices. A community where every youth has access to education,
healthcare, and opportunities for growth. By providing comprehensive sex education, healthcare
services, and a supportive environment.
How do we get there (Mission):
To empower individuals with the knowledge and resources to make informed decisions
about their sexual and reproductive health, aiming to reduce the incidence of teenage pregnancies
through education, access to healthcare, and community support.
However, to achieve this, we will adopt the concept of value creation.
Knowledge resources (planning): The barangay council through the leadership of the barangay
captain, must equip itself with vital resources and procedures. They must set a meeting in the
barangay to promote teenage pregnancy awareness, and healthcare services By utilizing online
education platforms, telemedicine services, mobile health apps, social media campaigns, and
data analysis tools, for this reason, the community can effectively reach teenagers and provide
them with access to crucial reproductive health information and services.
Intellectual Capital: By fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous
learning within the barangay Sagat. Encouraging knowledge sharing among youth leaders and
stakeholders, tapping into their diverse expertise, and providing opportunities for skills
development, they can create digital tools and applications that empower teenagers with
knowledge about contraception, family planning, and reproductive health. Through this teenagers
can make informed decisions regarding their sexual and reproductive health, ultimately reducing
the incidence of teenage pregnancy.
Intellectual Capital to Property: Recognizing the importance of safeguarding unique
ideas and innovations, the barangay will establish protocols to identify, protect, and manage
intellectual property within the barangay Sagat. all of the parts of innovative solutions in
minimizing teenage pregnancy in the barangay are credited to this matter.
Research and Development: We are now in the modern world where ICT is very helpful
in research and development. ICT enables continuous research and development efforts in the
field of teenage pregnancy prevention and support. Through data analytics, digital surveys, and
online research studies, valuable insights can be gathered to understand the factors contributing
to teenage pregnancy assess the effectiveness of existing interventions, and create innovative
solutions. By leveraging ICT tools for research purposes, stakeholders can collaborate, analyze
data trends, and innovate new strategies to tackle the challenges associated with teenage
pregnancy.

Implementing operations to address teenage pregnancy involves a coordinated effort from
various responsible parties in the barangay and these are the following:
The barangay officials: They are the ones who lead in organizing awareness campaigns and
creating innovative solutions about teenage pregnancy and sexual health within the barangay.
They can also allocate funds for programs aimed at reducing teenage pregnancy and supporting
pregnant teenagers.
Barangay Health Workers: These front liners should provide accessible and youth-friendly
reproductive health services, including counseling, family planning, and prenatal care. They can
also conduct home visits for pregnant teenagers to monitor their health and provide necessary
support.
Parents and Families: Open communication about sexual health within families is crucial.
Parents should guide and support their teenagers in making informed decisions about their sexual
health.
Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Sagat: They are responsible for creating programs that will
help the youth in the barangay. Also, in raising awareness about sexual health and pregnancy
prevention through educational campaigns and initiatives within the barangay.

To monitor the effectiveness and impact of the proposed solution, a survey from
stakeholders is acquired. This process includes measuring outcomes such as changes in teenage
pregnancy rates and access to reproductive health services, collecting data through surveys and
interviews to understand knowledge and behaviors related to sexual health, and establishing
feedback mechanisms to incorporate stakeholder perspectives.

- Like many other towns, Barangay San Roque in Jones, Isabela struggles to keep the
peace. Although the barangay has a strong feeling of community and cultural history, it
faces problems with public safety and criminality. Reports of, alarm and scandal, robbery,
and violators of curfew hours and other criminal activity have raised concerns among
local officials and citizens. To properly handle these peace and order challenges and make
Barangay San Roque a safer place for everyone, community members, barangay
authorities, and law enforcement agencies must collaborate better.

Due to an increase in violators, San Roque, Jones in Isabela is currently having a
significant struggle to preserve peace and order. Based on the most recent data, there were
roughly two alarming and scandalous occurrences recorded each week, and roughly three minors
were fined for breaking curfew hours.

The vision of Barangay San Roque is to achieve a state of absolute peace and security,
where the absence of criminality is not just a goal but a lived reality. Residents will feel safe and
secure in their homes and neighborhoods, free from the fear of crime and violence. The barangay
will be known as a beacon of safety, unity, and trust, where community members actively
collaborate to prevent crime, resolve conflicts peacefully, and uphold the values of respect and
empathy. Through collective effort, effective governance, and continuous engagement, Barangay
San Roque will set a standard for other communities to emulate, demonstrating that a crime-free
environment is not only achievable but essential for the well-being and prosperity of its
residents.
