and to grow. The extra food is stored in the form of starch in leaves, stem or
roots.
4. Write the functions of the stomata?
Ans: It is through stomata that a leaf takes in carbon dioxide from air to
prepare food by photosynthesis, and also gives out oxygen and water vapour
which are formed during photosynthesis.
5. How do plants without chlorophyll survive?
Ans: The plants without chlorophyll get their food from dead and decaying
plants and animals.
HOTS:

Q. Fish live longer in an aquarium with water plants in it, than in one without them.
Why?

Ans: During photosynthesis, a leaf taken in carbon dioxide and gives out
oxygen and water vapour through the stomata. So, fish get more oxygen to
breathe in, in an aquarium with water plants in it, than in one without them.
