Class Meeting Time: 9:30 – 10:45AM, Monday and Wednesday

Course Objectives:

This course is intended for graduate students across multiple disciplines such as engineering, business,
public health, and medicine. The goal of this course is threefold:
(1) To provide both a theoretical and practical understanding of the key industrial AI techniques of
classification, prediction, and data exploration that are crucial to solving problems in our engineering
and enterprise systems;
(2) To provide students an application context for these techniques;
(3) Using real-world machine health monitoring, diagnosis, and prognosis problems to illustrate the
application and implementation of these techniques.

Lecture materials will be distributed.

3. Evaluating Classification and Predictive Performance
4. Supervised Learning
5. Unsupervised Learning
6. Deep Learning
7. Transfer Learning
8. Generative AI and large language model (LLM)

Exams and Projects:


Project 1 (Assigned: Feb. 28; Due: Wednesday March 6) 25%
Project 2 (Assigned: March 27; Due: Wednesday April 3) 25%
Final Project (Assigned: March1; Due: April 30) 35%
Homework 15%

Final Project Presentation: 10:30 AM –12:30 PM, Tuesday, April 30, 2024
Final Project Due: By 5:00 PM, Tuesday, April 30, 2024
