PAST PERFECT CONTRAST WITH PRESENT PERFECT


A. El Past Perfect Continuous se refiere a acciones que estaban ocurriendo antes de un momento en el pasado que marca su fin. Sin embargo, en el Past Continuous
la acción continúa después de ese momento.
 My books were on the desk because I had been studying. (ya había acabado de estudiar)
 My books were on the desk because I was studying. (seguía estudiando)
B. El Past Perfect se refiere solo a acontecimientos pasados, mientras que el Present Perfect tiene relación con el presente.
 I hadn’t been to Geneva until my visit last April. (hasta ese momento)
 I haven’t been to Geneva yet. (no conozco Ginebra aún)
 She had been learning English before she went to London. (dejó de estudiar inglés cuando fue a Londres)
 She has been learning English for the last year. (todavía está en ello)
C. Siempre que una frase empieza en pasado, continúa en Past Perfect, no en Present Perfect.
