THE ABOMINATIONS IN THE SDA CHURCH.

Ezekiel 9.
PRAYER THOUGHT
Testimonies For The Church, Volume 3 page 267.
“Who are standing in the counsel of God at this time? Is it those who virtually
excuse wrongs among the professed people of God and who murmur in their
hearts, if not openly, against those who would reprove sin? Is it those who take
their stand against them and sympathize with those who commit wrong? No,
indeed! Unless they repent, and leave the work of Satan in oppressing those who
have the burden of the work and in holding up the hands of sinners in Zion, they
will never receive the mark of God's sealing approval. They will fall in the general
destruction of the wicked, represented by the work of the five men bearing
slaughter weapons. Mark this point with care: Those who receive the pure mark
of truth, wrought in them by the power of the Holy Ghost, represented by a mark
by the man in linen, are those "that sigh and that cry for all the abominations
that be done" in the church. Their love for purity and the honor and glory of
God is such, and they have so clear a view of the exceeding sinfulness of sin,
that they are represented as being in agony, even sighing and crying. Read the
ninth chapter of Ezekiel”. {3T 267.1}
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
To show the abominations that are practiced in the SDA church and fostered by
men in responsible positions so that we may sigh and cry against them in order
to receive the seal of God in our foreheads, be among the 144000 and stand with
the Lamb on Mt Zion in Palestine.
WHAT IS TO SIGH AND CRY? 5T 211; PHI 2:12
Testimonies For The Church Vol 5, page 211.
“The class who do not feel grieved over their own spiritual declension, nor
mourn over the sins of others, will be left without the seal of God”.
Phillipians 2:12
“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only,
but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear
and trembling”.

HERE ARE SOME OF THE ABOMINATIONS

1. DISBELIEF AND DOUBTING THE TESTIMONIES OF GOD. 5T 217, 681,61;
4T 211; 1SM 45,48; ISAIAH 8:20; PROV. 29:18; 7T 249
Testimonies For The Church Vol. 5, page 217.--“The church has turned back
from following Christ her Leader and is steadily retreating toward Egypt. Yet few
are alarmed or astonished at their want of spiritual power. Doubt, and even
disbelief of the testimonies of the Spirit of God, is leavening our churches
everywhere. Satan would have it thus. Ministers who preach self instead of
Christ would have it thus. The testimonies are unread and unappreciated. God
has spoken to you. Light has been shining from His word and from the
testimonies, and both have been slighted and disregarded. The result is apparent
in the lack of purity and devotion and earnest faith among us”. {5T 217.2}
Note: Today we often hear Pastors and Church Elders openly condemn the
writings of Sr EG White. Those who quote from her writings are called all sorts of
names – offshoots, rebels, satanists, Davidians, and many other names. But here
you see that they are fulfilling prophecy.
2. LUKEWARMNESS. REV. 3:14-17; 2SM 66; 5T 708-709; 3T 252-253.
Testimonies For The Church Vol. 3, page 252-253.-- “What greater deception can
come upon human minds than a confidence that they are right when they are
all wrong! The message of the True Witness finds the people of God in a sad
deception, yet honest in that deception. They know not that their condition
is deplorable in the sight of God. While those addressed are flattering themselves
that they are in an exalted spiritual condition, the message of the True Witness
breaks their security by the startling denunciation of their true condition of
spiritual blindness, poverty, and wretchedness. The testimony, so cutting and
severe, cannot be a mistake, for it is the True Witness who speaks, and His
testimony must be correct”.
Note: The SDA church is in a deception. Its members think they are heavenly bound
when in reality they are destined for destruction. Unless they are awakened, they
shall surely lose out in as much as the Jews lost out.
3. THE USE OF UNINSPIRED LITERATURE. 6T 165-166; CW 33-34; 5T 681
Testimonies for the Church Vol. 5, page 681.-- "Many are going directly contrary
to the light which God has given to His people, because they do not read the
books which contain the light and knowledge in cautions, reproofs, and
warnings. The cares of the world, the love of fashion, and the lack of religion
have turned the attention from the light God has so graciously given, while books
and periodicals containing error are travelling all over the country. Skepticism
and infidelity are increasing everywhere. Light so precious, coming from the
throne of God, is hid under a bushel. God will make His people responsible for
this neglect”.
Note: Today, Literature Evangelists are peddling books and magazines that are
written by Theologians instead of selling the Spirit of Prophecy books. Adventist
Bookshops have more of uninspired books as well. This is serving Satan’s
interests.
4. REJECTION OF HEAVEN SENT MESSAGES. 1SM 234-235; TM 91-92, 79-
80
Selected Messages Book 1, page 234-235.-- “An unwillingness to yield up
preconceived opinions, and to accept this truth, lay at the foundation of a large
share of the opposition manifested at Minneapolis against the Lord's message
through Brethren [E.J.] Waggoner and [A.T.] Jones. By exciting that opposition
Satan succeeded in shutting away from our people, in a great measure, the
special power of the Holy Spirit that God longed to impart to them. The enemy
prevented them from obtaining that efficiency which might have been theirs in
carrying the truth to the world, as the apostles proclaimed it after the day of
Pentecost. The light that is to lighten the whole earth with its glory was
resisted, and by the action of our own brethren has been in a great degree
kept away from the world”.
Note: The 1888 message was rejected by the General Conference. In addition, she
has rejected the Health Reform message of 1863, and the message of the fourth
angel of 1930. The General Conference is repeating the mistakes of the Sanhedrin
in the days of Christ.
5. WHISPERING AND COMMON TALKING IN CHURCH. HAB 2:2; GC 542; 5T
492; CG 542
Child Guidance, page 542.--“Do not have so little reverence for the house and
worship of God as to communicate with one another during the sermon. If those
who commit this fault could see the angels of God looking upon them and
marking their doings, they would be filled with shame and abhorrence of
themselves. God wants attentive hearers. It was while men slept that the enemy
sowed tares”.
Note: There is so much noise in our Congregations today than at any other time.
Common talking, laughing and whispering is not allowed in the house of God.
6. JESTING AND JOKING BY PREACHERS. EV 641, 147; TM 142-143.
Testimonies to Ministers, page 142-143.-- “What can the minister do without
Jesus? Verily, nothing. Then if he is a frivolous, joking man, he is not prepared
to perform the duty laid upon him by the Lord. "Without Me," says Christ, "ye
can do nothing." The flippant words that fall from his lips, the trifling anecdotes,
the words spoken to create a laugh, are all condemned by the word of God and
are entirely out of place in the sacred desk”.
Note: Pastors and Elders who solicit a laugh from the congregation through there
jokes and stories while preaching are the agents of Satan, NOT GOD.
7. POUNDING THE DESK AND JUMPING UP AND DOWN AT THE PULPIT. EV
640
Evangelism, page 640.
“I see that great reformation must take place in the ministry before it shall be
what God would have it. Ministers in the desk have no license to behave like
theatrical performers, assuming attitudes and expressions calculated for effect.
They do not occupy the sacred desk as actors, but as teachers of solemn truths.
There are also fanatical ministers, who, in attempting to preach Christ,
storm, halloo, jump up and down, and pound the desk before them, as if
this bodily exercise profited anything. Such antics lend no force to the truths
uttered, but, on the contrary, disgust men and women of calm judgment and
elevated views. It is the duty of men who give themselves to the ministry to leave
all coarseness and boisterous conduct outside the desk at least”.
Note: There should be no dramatizing when preaching the word of God. If this was
the way to go, we would have seen several examples in Christ’s Ministry.
8. ADDING ANECDOTES TO SERMONS. EV 210, 640.
Evangelism, page 640.--“Ministers should not make a practice of relating
anecdotes in the desk; it detracts from the force and solemnity of the truth
presented. The relation of anecdotes or incidents which create a laugh or a light
thought in the minds of the hearers is severely censurable. The truths should be
clothed in chaste and dignified language; and the illustrations should be of a like
character”.
Note: Anecdotes are stories added to sermons. Preach the word without adding
your stories.
9. STANDING WHEN PRAYING TO GOD IN THE CHURCH. PSALMS 95:6;
ACTS 9:40; 20:36; 21:5; EZRA 9:5; DAN 6:10; GW 179; 2SM 311-314; PK
40, 47,48,49; PK 252.
Selected Messages Book 2, page 311.-- “I have received letters questioning me in
regard to the proper attitude to be taken by a person offering prayer to the
Sovereign of the universe. Where have our brethren obtained the idea that they
should stand upon their feet when praying to God? One who has been educated
for about five years in Battle Creek was asked to lead in prayer before Sister
White should speak to the people. But as I beheld him standing upright upon
his feet while his lips were about to open in prayer to God, my soul was stirred
within me to give him an open rebuke. Calling him by name, I said, "Get down
upon your knees." This is the proper position always”.
Note: It is unadventist to stand while offering prayer in public worship services.

10. WOMEN NOT COVERING THEIR HEADS IN WORSHIP. 1 COR. 11:3-16;

1T 188-189.
Testimonies for the Church Vol.1, page 188-189.--“I was shown that the people
of God should not imitate the fashions of the world. Some have done this, and
are fast losing the peculiar, holy character which should distinguish them as
God's people. I was pointed back to God's ancient people, and was led to compare
their apparel with the mode of dress in these last days. What a difference! what
a change! Then the women were not so bold as now. When they went in public,
they covered their faces with a veil. In these last days, fashions are shameful and
immodest.
11. CHURCH THEATRICALS. EV 137-138; GC 463; 2SM 23-24.
Evangelism, page 137.--“I have a message for those in charge of our work. Do
not encourage the men who are to engage in this work to think that they must
proclaim the solemn, sacred message in a theatrical style. Not one jot or title of
anything theatrical is to be brought into our work. God's cause is to have a
sacred, heavenly mold. Let everything connected with the giving of the message
for this time bear the divine impress. Let nothing of a theatrical nature be
permitted, for this would spoil the sacredness of the work”.
12. USE OF PUBLIC PLACES FOR WORSHIP. 5T 496; CG 542-543; 6T 100.
Testimonies for the Church Vol. 5, page 496.--“The place dedicated to God
should not be a room where worldly business is transacted. If the children
assemble to worship God in a room that is used during the week for a school or
a storeroom, they will be more than human if, mingled with their devotional
thoughts, they do not also have thoughts of their studies or of things that have
happened during the week. The education and training of the youth should be
of a character that would exalt sacred things and encourage pure devotion for
God in His house. Many who profess to be children of the heavenly King have no
true appreciation of the sacredness of eternal things. Nearly all need to be taught
how to conduct themselves in the house of God. Parents should not only teach,
but command, their children to enter the sanctuary with sobriety and reverence”.
13. LONG PRAYERS IN PUBLIC. MATT. 6:7-8; GW 175-176, 179.
Gospel Workers, page 175-176.--“Many tedious prayers are offered, which are
more like giving the Lord a lecture than presenting to Him a request. It would be
better if those offering such prayers would confine themselves to the one that
Christ taught His disciples to offer. Long prayers are tiring to those who hear,
and do not prepare the people to listen to the instruction that is to follow.
“It is often because secret prayer is neglected that long, tedious prayers are
offered in public. Let not ministers go over in their petitions a week of neglected
duties, hoping to atone for their neglect and to pacify conscience. Such prayers
frequently result in bringing others down to a low level of spirituality”.

14. JOINING LABOUR UNIONS. 7T 84.

Testimonies for the Church vol. 7, page 84.--“For years I have been given special
light that we are not to center our work in the cities. The turmoil and confusion
that fill these cities, the conditions brought about by the labor unions and the
strikes, would prove a great hindrance to our work. Men are seeking to bring
those engaged in the different trades under bondage to certain unions. This is
not God's planning, but the planning of a power that we should in no wise
acknowledge. God's word is fulfilling; the wicked are binding themselves up in
bundles ready to be burned.
“We are now to use all our entrusted capabilities in giving the last warning
message to the world. In this work we are to preserve our individuality. We are
not to unite with secret societies or with trade-unions. We are to stand free in
God, looking constantly to Christ for instruction. All our movements are to be
made with a realization of the importance of the work to be accomplished for
God”.
15. PARTICIPATING IN POLITICS AND VOTING FOR POLITICAL PARTIES.
GW 391-395; ECCL 7:10
Gospel Workers, page 391.--“The Lord would have His people bury political
questions. On these themes silence is eloquence. Christ calls upon His followers
to come into unity on the pure gospel principles which are plainly revealed in the
word of God. We cannot with safety vote for political parties; for we do not know
whom we are voting for. We cannot with safety take part in any political scheme.
We cannot labor to please men who will use their influence to repress religious
liberty, and to set in operation oppressive measures to lead or compel their
fellow-men to keep Sunday as the Sabbath”.
16. CARRYING LIFE INSURANCE.
Testimonies for the Church Vol. 1, page 550.-- “Life insurance is a worldly
policy which leads our brethren who engage in it to depart from the
simplicity and purity of the gospel. Every such departure weakens our faith
and lessens our spirituality. Said the angel: "But ye are a chosen generation, a
royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth
the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous light."
As a people we are in a special sense the Lord's. Christ has bought us. Angels
that excel in strength surround us. Not a sparrow falls to the ground without the
notice of our heavenly Father. Even the hairs of our head are numbered. God
has made provision for His people. He has a special care for them, and they
should not distrust His providence by engaging in a policy with the world”.
17. WRONG METHODS OF EVANGELISM [CRUSADES].
Selected Messages Book 2, page 18-19.-- “A new order of things has come into
the ministry. There is a desire to pattern after other churches, and simplicity
and humility are almost unknown. The young ministers seek to be original, and
to introduce new ideas and new plans for labor. Some open revival meetings,
and by this means call large numbers into the church. But when the
excitement is over, where are the converted ones? Repentance and confession of
sin are not seen. The sinner is entreated to believe in Christ and accept Him,
without regard to his past life of sin and rebellion. The heart is not broken. There
is no contrition of soul. The supposed converted ones have not fallen upon the
Rock, Christ Jesus”.
18. REJECTING HEAVEN SENT MESSAGES WITHOUT INVESTIGATION.
Counsels to Sabbath School Workers, page 28.--“When a message comes in the
name of the Lord to His people, no one may excuse himself from an investigation
of its claims. No one can afford to stand back in an attitude of indifference and
self-confidence, and say: "I know what is truth. I am satisfied with my position.
I have set my stakes, and I will not be moved away from my position, whatever
may come. I will not listen to the message of this messenger; for I know that it
cannot be truth." It is from pursuing this very course that the popular churches
were left in partial darkness, and that is why the messages of heaven have not
reached them”.
Note: The SDA Church [General Conference] rejected the 1888 message, and when
the same message came back in 1930 – they still rejected it again. What do we
expect God to do next?
19. AMUSEMENTS [ GAMES, PARTIES OF PLEASURE, WORLDLY MUSIC,
LITERATURE, MOVIES, DANCING, ETC]
Messages to Young People, pages 376-377. “The true followers of Christ will have
sacrifices to make. They will shun places of worldly amusement because they
find no Jesus there,--no influence which will make them heavenly minded and
increase their growth in grace. Obedience to the word of God will lead them to
come out from all these things, and be separate”.
Note: We have become so worldly as a church. Deaconeses have become experts
in arranging Kitchen parties and serving beer at these functions. Elders know by
names all the Players for Manchester United whilest so ignorant about the signs
of the Kingdom..
20. MISUSE OF MUSIC
Evangelism, page 510.--“Display is not religion nor sanctification. There is
nothing more offensive in God's sight than a display of instrumental music
when those taking part are not consecrated, are not making melody in their
hearts to the Lord. The offering most sweet and acceptable in God's sight is a
heart made humble by self-denial, by lifting the cross and following Jesus.
“We have no time now to spend in seeking those things that only please the
senses. Close heart searching is needed. With tears and heartbroken confession
we need to draw nigh to God that He may draw nigh to us.”
Note: Music in our churches has been largely abused. Many prefer music to Bible
Study. The dragon is surely leading us on the road to eternal ruin. Let us return to
God.
21. TAKING CHURCH DIFFICULTIES TO THE POLICE OR COURTS OF
LAW.
Selected Messages Book 3, page 299.--“When troubles arise in the church we
should not go for help to lawyers not of our faith. God does not desire us to open
church difficulties before those who do not fear Him. He would not have us
depend for help on those who do not obey His requirements. Those who trust in
such counsellors show that they have not faith in God. By their lack of faith the
Lord is greatly dishonoured, and their course works great injury to themselves.
In appealing to unbelievers to settle difficulties in the church they are biting and
devouring one another, to be "consumed one of another" (Galatians 5:15).
“These men cast aside the counsel God has given, and do the very things He
has bidden them not to do. They show that they have chosen the world as their
judge, and in heaven their names are registered as one with unbelievers. Christ
is crucified afresh, and put to open shame. Let these men know that God does
not hear their prayers. They insult His holy name, and He will leave them to the
buffetings of Satan until they shall see their folly and seek the Lord by confession
of their sin”.
NOTE: Taking each other to courts of law is satanic. When we have troubles
amongst ourselves let us resolve them through the church process.

22. USE OF TITHE: Teachers in our school (those who teach the scriptures)
are not paid from tithe as they should have been. Testimonies vol. 6 p. 215
23. ROBBING GOD OF THE TITHES AND OFFERINGS: The Ministry though
having rejected God’s message (‘meat’ to give the people) but still collecting
His Tithes. Mal 3:7-10; Ezekiel 34:1-3 Testimonies vol. 3 p. 553; vol 1p 261-
262; vol 5p. 102-103
24. FOLLOWING FASHIONS OF THE WORLD: Isa. 3:16-24/ Testimonies vol.
1 p. 270. This disputes God’s Creation: Gen 1:31/ Psalm 139:14.
25. HAIR PLATING WET LOOKS, PERMING AND EXTENSIONS: 1 Tim. 2:9/
1 pet. 3:4/ Testimonies vol. 1 p. 189-190
26. BOLDNESS AND CUTTINGS BY MEN: Levi 21:5
27. SHORT DRESSES AND VERY LONG DRESSES CONDEMNED: Reform
dress length is about 9 inches from the ground. Testimonies vol 1 p
521/Messages to Young People p. 226/ Advent Home p. 331-332/
Testimonies vol. 5 p. 596, 602.
28. WEARING CLOTHING OF OPPOSITE SEX: Commonly practiced by
women. Deut 22:5 / Selected Messages bk. 2 p. 477-478
29. WEARING ALL MANNER OF JEWELRY: Ranging from rings, earrings,
bracelets, and a “wrist watch” which is a Bracelet with a timepiece on it. Isaiah
3:16 26/Testimonies vol. 1 p. 270. Indifference in dress is a censurable
offense. Testimonies vol. 4 p. 647-648 / Testimonies vol. 1 p 136 / Message
To Young People p. 346/Education p 248.TM 180
30. FORBIDDEN MONEY RAISING METHODS:--“Here is a method invented
by carnal minds to secure means without sacrificing. … Let us stand clear
of all these church corruptions, dissipations, and festivals, which have a
demoralizing influence upon young and old. We have no right to throw over
them the cloak of sanctity because the means is to be used for church
purposes. Such offerings are lame and diseased and bear the curse of God.
… The pulpit may defend festivals, dancing, lotteries, fairs, and luxurious
feasts, to obtain means for church purposes, but let us participate in none
of these things; for if we do, God's displeasure will be upon us.” Welfare
Ministry p. 289-290, Evangelism p. 253’ 255/ Testimonies vol. 9 p. 91
31. HIGH PRICES IN OUR INSTITUTION WHILE THEY SHOULD BE BELOW
CURRENT EXPENSES: Testimonies vol. 8 p. 142 / Isa 56:11,12.
32. MERCHANDISING IN THE HOUSE OF GOD BY BUYING AND SELLING
DENOMINATIONAL PUBLICATIONS ON THE SABBATH: Isa. 56:7/
Testimonies vol. 1 p. 471-472; vol. 8 p. 250.
33. PLATE PASSING AND COLLECTION OF OFFERINGS: 1 Cor. 16:1,2/
Counsels on Sabbath School Work p. 129-130/ 3T p. 411-412.
34. APPEARING ON SABBATH IN CLOTHES WORN DURING THE WEEK:
6T p. 335/ 2SM p. 474-475.
35. Taking a full Bath on the Sabbath: Testimonies vol. 6 p. 335.
36. Violation of Health Reform.
37. EATING OF FLESH FOODS (MEAT EATING). CD. P. 383, 380-381, 385-
386,394.
38. DRINKING TEA AND COFFEE. “Tea and coffee drinking is a sin, an
injurious indulgence, which, like other evils, injures the soul.” Counsels on
Diet and food p. 420- 421, 425.
39. USE OF SOFT DRINKS. (Fanta ,Coca Cola, Spirit and many other artificial
drinks)
40. Allowing Non Health reformers to hold offices, as Ministers, Elders
and Teachers. CD p. 453, 401-402; Testimonies vol. 9 p.156-160.

“Why do some of our ministering brethren manifest so little interest in

health reform? It is because instruction on temperance in all things is
opposed to their practice of self-indulgence. In some places this has been
the great stumbling block in the way of our bringing the people to investigate
and practice and teach health reform. No man should be set apart as a
teacher of the people while his own teaching or example contradicts the
testimony God has given His servants to bear in regard to diet, for this
will bring confusion. His disregard of health reform unfits him to stand
as the Lord's messenger.” Testimonies for the church vol. 6 p. 378

41. NOT FOLLOWING THE ORDER OF THE SERVICE: Testimonies vol. 5 p.

491- 500.
42. VIOLATION OF THE SABBATH.

Working on the Sabbath: Gen 2:2, 3/ Exod. 20:8-11/ Lev. 23:3. PP p. 307/
Testimonies vol. 4 p. 147, 247-248. This includes those who work in health
institutions, unless under the following conditions. “Physicians need to
cultivate a spirit of self- denial and self-sacrifice. It may be necessary to devote
even the hours of the holy Sabbath to the relief of suffering humanity. But
the fee for such labor should be put into the treasury of the Lord to be used
for the worthy poor, who need medical skill but cannot afford to pay for
it.”Medical Ministry p. 216.

Cooking food on the Sabbath: Exod. 16:23/Testimonies vol. 6 p. 357. This

has become very common even at camp meetings “and let us not come to the
camp meeting to break the Sabbath by cooking on that day. The instructions
which God gave to Israel should not be disregarded: … God meant what He
said; and shall we who are presenting to the people the claims of the divine
law, break that law ourselves, merely to please the appetite? God forbid!”
Review and Herald May 8, 1883.

Dish washing: “I would charge all not to wash their dishes on the Sabbath if
this can possibly be avoided.” Selected Messages bk. 3 p. 258.

43. KEEPING THE CHURCH IGNORANT ABOUT THE SLAUGHTER OF THE

TARES IN IT’S MIDST: Ezekiel 9/ 5T p. 505, 211. “Study the 9th chapter of
Ezekiel. These words will be literally fulfilled; yet the time is passing, and the
people are asleep. …soon, very, soon, every case will be decided for eternity.”
MR vol. 1 p. 260. “the time will soon come when the prophecy of Ezekiel 9 will
be fulfilled, that prophecy should be Carefully studied for it will be fulfilled to
the very letter…” Letter 31A, page 9, 1894
44. HOLDING BOARD, BUSINESS AND GROUP MEETINGS ON THE
SABBATH: Lev. 23:3/ PP p. 307.
45. TRAVELING ON THE SABBATH: Isa. 58:13-14/ Testimonies vol. 6 p.
359-360.
46. ENGAGING IN WORLDLY CONVERSATIONS: Isa 58:13-14/ Testimonies
vol.2 p. 583/ vol.7 p. 703/ PP p. 307
47. SLEEPING ON THE SABBATH

In the church:-- “Let none come to the place of worship to take a nap. There
should be no sleeping in the house of God. You do not fall asleep when
engaged in your temporal business, because you have an interest in your
work. Shall we allow the service which involves eternal interest to be placed
on a lower level than the temporal affairs of life?” 6T 361

At home:-- “When we do this we miss the blessing which the Lord designs us
to have. The Sabbath is not to be a day of useless idleness. Both in the home
and in the church a spirit of service is to be manifested. He who gave us six days
for our temporal work has blessed and sanctified the seventh day and set it apart
for himself. On this day He will in a special manner bless all who consecrate
themselves to His service.” 6T 361, 362.

“None should feel at liberty to spend sanctified time in an unprofitable manner,

It is displeasing God for Sabbath-keepers to sleep during much of the Sabbath.
They dishonor their creator in so doing, and, by their example, say that the six
days are too precious for them to spend in resting. They must make money,
although it may be by robbing themselves of needed sleep, which they make up
by sleeping away holy time. They then excuse themselves, saying: “The Sabbath
was given for a day of rest. I will not deprive myself of rest to attend meeting: for
I need rest. Such make a wrong use of the sanctified day.” 2T 704.
“Let not the precious hours of the Sabbath be wasted in bed.” 6T 357.
48. THE EDGES OF THE SABBATH--“We should jealously guard the edges of
the Sabbath. Remember that every moment is consecrated, holy time.
Whenever it is possible, employers should give their workers the hours from
Friday noon until the beginning of the Sabbath. Give them time for
preparation, that they may welcome the Lord’s Day with quietness of mind.
By such a course you will suffer no loss even in temporal things.” 6T 356.

49. CARE OF THE CHILDREN ON THE SABBATH

a) In the Church:
“The house of God is desecrated and the Sabbath violated by Sabbath believer’s
children. They run about the house, play, talk, and manifest their evil tempers
in the very meetings where the saints have met together to glorify God and to
worship Him in the beauty of holiness…
“Above everything, take care of your children upon the Sabbath. Do not let them
violate it, for you may just as well violate it yourself as to let your children do it.
When you suffer your children to play the Sabbath, God looks upon you as a
commandment breaker. You transgress His Sabbath.” 3SM 257.
b) At home:
“Before the setting of the sun let the members of the family assemble to read
God’s word, to sing and pray. There is need of reform here, for many have been
remiss. We need to confess to God and to one another. We should begin anew to
make special arrangements that every member of the family may be prepared to
honor the day which God has blessed and sanctified.” 6T 356, 367.
“They (the entire family) come to the table without levity. Boisterous noise and
contention should not be allowed any day of the week; but on the Sabbath all
should observe quietness. No loud-toned commands should be heard at any
time; but on the Sabbath is entirely out of place. This is God’s holy day; the day
He has set is entirely out of place. This is God’s holy day, the day He has set
apart to commemorate His creative works, a day He has sanctified and
hallowed.” 3SM 257, 258.
50. ALL DIFFERENCES TO BE PUT ASIDE BEFORE SABBATH--There is
another work that should receive attention on the preparation day. On this
day all differences between brethren, whether in the family or in the church,
should be put away. Let all bitterness and wrath and malice be expelled from
the soul. In a humble spirit, "confess your faults one to another, and pray one
for another, that ye may be healed." James 5:16. {6T 356.2}

51. SUNDOWN WORSHIP--Before the setting of the sun let the members of
the family assemble to read God's word, to sing and pray. There is need of
reform here, for many have been remiss. We need to confess to God and to
one another. We should begin anew to make special arrangements that every
member of the family may be prepared to honor the day which God has
blessed and sanctified. {6T 356.5}

As the sun goes down, let the voice of prayer and the hymn of praise mark
the close of the sacred hours and invite God's presence through the cares of
the week of labor. {6T 359.1}

52. FOOD ON THE SABBATH--We should not provide for the Sabbath a more
liberal supply or a greater variety of food than for other days. Instead of this
the food should be more simple, and less should be eaten, in order that the
mind may be clear and vigorous to comprehend spiritual things. Overeating
befogs the brain. The most precious words may be heard and not appreciated,
because the mind is confused by an improper diet. By overeating on the
Sabbath, many have done more than they think to dishonor God. {6T
357.2}

While cooking upon the Sabbath should be avoided, it is not necessary to eat
cold food. In cold weather let the food prepared the day before be heated. And let
the meals, though simple, be palatable and attractive. Provide something that
will be regarded as a treat, something the family do not have every day. {6T
357.3}
53. LEANING ON THE ARM OF FLESH-- But beware of rejecting that which
is truth. The great danger with our people has been that of depending upon
men and making flesh their arm. Those who have not been in the habit of
searching the Bible for themselves, or weighing evidence, have confidence in
the leading men and accept the decisions they make; and thus many will
reject the very messages God sends to His people, if these leading brethren
do not accept them. {TM 106.4}

54. CRITICIZING AND FAULTFINDING--Refrain from saying anything that

might detract from the influence of another; for by indulging in these words
of criticism, you blaspheme God's holy name as verily as you would were
you to swear. . . . {5BC 1093.4}

All were created in His image, and even the most degraded are to be treated with
respect and tenderness. God will hold us accountable for even a word spoken in
contempt of one soul for whom Christ laid down His life. {MB 56.3}
If we have in any manner defrauded or injured our brother, we should make
restitution. If we have unwittingly borne false witness, if we have misstated his
words, if we have injured his influence in any way, we should go to the ones with
whom we have conversed about him, and take back all our injurious
misstatements. {MB 59.1}
The truly converted man has no inclination to think or talk of the faults of others.
His lips are sanctified, and as God's witness he testifies that the grace of Christ
has transformed his heart. . . . Those only will enter heaven who have overcome
the temptation to think and speak evil. {SD 348.6}

GREATER ABOMINATIONS
This list of abominations is not exhaustive. There are greater abominations that
human eyes cannot see, but which God alone sees which are practiced by SDAs.
Abominations such as witchcraft, adultery, satanism, etc.
