    Engaging Student with Digital Literacy to Have Good Critical Thinking for Sustainable Future

    The expansion of the internet and other platforms or digital communication have opened up new
    dimensions and opportunities for collaborative learning and information sharing in various forms as
    learning communities, discussion groups, and chat rooms. Based on the research, there are 132 million
    internet users in 2023. This number, quickly develop until 51% in a year. This fact, tends to be a powerful
    fact that all people especially student have been connected with internet. Thereby, what makes me
    interest to choose digital literacy as my speech is because digital literacy can be educational tool to have
    a good critical thinking for Indonesian students practically.

    Digital literacy can be defined as survival skills in the digital era. It constitutes a system of skills and
    strategies used by users and learners in digital environment. Besides, critical thinking is the ability to
    analyze information objectively, evaluate evidence, and draw sound conclusions. It is a fundamental skill
    that equips us to navigate the complexities of the modern world and make informed decisions. Thereby,
    digital literacy becomes an important thing to determine how your critical thinking ability take stronger
    about the fast development of technology in modern world.

    Unfortunately, we see a lot of students are skill less in having critical thinking and understanding
    about the importance role of digital literacy. Whereas, digital literacy it self really help us in the persistence
    of teaching learning activity that is implemented by online learning such the use of digital media as
    platform of teaching learning process. Because, nowadays all things are connected into technology. By that
    digital literacy demand student and teacher to understand deepen and use digital technology critically.
    Therefore, this leads us to a hope where we can use information technology and communication as well
    as possible.

    But some questions blow up! How can we empower young people to develop critical thinking skills
    and become responsible digital citizens? Should they implement digital literacy? Should we force them to
    implement it? As if they do not utilize it, they will be left behind and far away from they educational
    development. Looking as those, possibility we should realize and contemplate gathering our critical
    thinking through some manners as follows:

    1. Promoting digital literacy can help young people to understand how media massages are
    constructed and how they can be influenced by various factors. By learning about digital literacy,
    young people can become more discerning consumers of information and less susceptible to
    manipulation.
    2. The government should attentive toward their condition by giving some facilities such as
    smartphone and computer. This will give new spirit for student to learn. Also, studying about
    digital literacy must be given to all Indonesians student to improve their critical thinking and
    understanding about it.

    Eventually digital literacy becomes a prime away in helping student’s capability to dig the deepest
    education in globalization era. By respecting education and actualizing it in our habitual life, we hope to
    create and make better world. As Nelson Mandela stated that “Education and critical thinking are the most
    powerful weapon which we can use to change the world”
