Traffic Signs
Road Traffic Signs
Road traffic signs and symbols are visual markers that
were designed to guide drivers and pedestrians toward
their destination. These were meant to keep them safe
while they're on the move on public roads. They usually
provide either a direction, a warning, or an instruction
that both drivers and pedestrians must follow.

Regulatory Signs
➢ These signs require the driver to obey the signs for
the safety of other road users.

➢ Also called mandatory signs because the drivers must


obey these signs for the safety of other road users. If
the driver fails t follow them, the control agency has
the right to take legal action against the driver. These
signs generally have a black legend on a white
background. They are circular with red borders.

must come to a complete stop
before the designated stop line.

● It’s a caution sign, urging drivers to
slow down, assess the situation, and
proceed only when it’s clear.
● They must yield priority to any
vehicles, bikes, or pedestrians
already in the intersection or
approaching it.

intersection must yield the right of
way to all oncoming traffic.

● Drivers must not travel below the


speed indicated on the sign.
● Enforces a consistent flow of traffic
and prevents disruptions caused by
slow-moving vehicles.

PEDESTRIAN CROSSING AHEAD
● Pedestrian crossing signs indicate areas with a
high likelihood of pedestrian activity. These signs
are meant to prevent accidents by preparing
drivers to slow down or stop on short notice.

SLOW DOWN, PEDESTRIAN


CROSSING AHEAD
● “Ped Xing” means “pedestrian crossing”.
It is a quick way to put critical
information on a traffic sign, easily
readable by a driver in a moving vehicle.
CHILDREN CROSSING AHEAD

the road. A bicyclist should always travel in the
same direction of traffic when using a bike lane,
unless the pavement markings in a bike lane
indicate you may travel against traffic. Cars are not
permitted to park or drive in a bike lane.

➢ These signs are for the safety of oneself who is driving and
advice the drivers to obey these signs.

➢ The LTO traffic signs under this category were designed to


warn motorists and pedestrians about the hazards on the road
or sidewalk. They may tell motorists that there's an incoming
road layout, hazards, or humps ahead or that the area they're
traversing is prone to flooding and landslides. Warning signs
are usually designed with an upward triangle outlined in red or
filled with other shapes in yellow and green colors. They are
intended to serve as a precaution and a reminder to be mindful
of their surroundings for safety purposes.

facilities available ahead and the route and distance t reach
the specific destinations. In addition, special type of traffic sign
namely work zone signs are also available. These types of signs
are used t give warning to the road users when some
construction work is going on the road. They are placed only
for short duration and will be removed soon after the work is
over and when the road is brought back to its normal
condition.

Route markers are used to identify
numbered highways. They have designs
that are distinctive and unique. They
are usually written in black letters on a
yellow background.

Destination signs are used to indicate
the direction to the critical destination
points, and to mark important
intersections. Distance in kilometer

side of the destination.
