Equations of Motion 😂😂😂

The equations of motion describe the relationship between an object's motion and
the forces acting on it. These equations are fundamental in physics, particularly in
mechanics, and are often applied to objects moving in a straight line with constant
acceleration. The three most commonly used equations of motion are:

1. First Equation of Motion:

v = u + at or v2 = v1 + at
where:

● v: Final velocity
● u: Initial velocity
● a: Acceleration
● t: Time

This equation shows that the final velocity of an object is equal to its initial velocity
plus the product of acceleration and time.

2. Second Equation of Motion:

s = ut + ½at² or d=v1t + ½at²
where:

● s: Displacement (distance covered)

● u: Initial velocity
● t: Time
● a: Acceleration

This equation gives the displacement of an object in terms of its initial velocity, time,
and acceleration.

3. Third Equation of Motion:

v² = u² + 2as or v2² = v1² + 2ad
where:

● v: Final velocity
● u: Initial velocity
● a: Acceleration
● s: Displacement

This equation relates the final velocity of an object to its initial velocity, acceleration,
and displacement.

QUESTIONS 😂
First Equation of Motion:
1. A car starts from rest and accelerates at 2 m/s² for 5 seconds. What is its final
velocity?

2. A bike is moving with an initial velocity of 10 m/s. If it accelerates at 3 m/s² for 4

seconds, what will be its final velocity?

3. A ball is thrown upwards with an initial velocity of 15 m/s. If the acceleration due
to gravity is -9.8 m/s², what will be its velocity after 2 seconds?

4. A train decelerates at 4 m/s² and comes to a stop in 8 seconds. What was its initial
velocity?

5. A car moving at 20 m/s accelerates at 1.5 m/s² for 6 seconds. What is its final
velocity?

Second Equation of Motion:

6. A car starts from rest and accelerates at 3 m/s² for 10 seconds. How far does it
travel?

7. A ball is thrown with an initial velocity of 12 m/s at an angle. If it experiences a

horizontal acceleration of 2 m/s², how far will it travel in 5 seconds?

8. A vehicle accelerates from 5 m/s to 15 m/s in 4 seconds. How far does it travel
during this time?

9. A car decelerates from 25 m/s to rest in 10 seconds. How much distance does it
cover during this time?
10. A rocket is launched upwards with an initial velocity of 30 m/s and an upward
acceleration of 4 m/s². How far will it go in 8 seconds?

Third Equation of Motion:

11. A car starts from rest and accelerates at 5 m/s² over a distance of 100 meters.
What is its final velocity?

12. A ball is thrown downward with an initial velocity of 10 m/s from a height of 50
meters. What will be its velocity when it hits the ground? (Assume g = 9.8 m/s²)

13. A cyclist accelerates from 5 m/s to 15 m/s over a distance of 200 meters. What is
the acceleration?

14. A car moving at 30 m/s decelerates uniformly and comes to a stop after covering
400 meters. What was the car’s deceleration?

15. A ball is dropped from a height of 80 meters. What will be its velocity when it
hits the ground? (Assume g = 9.8 m/s²)

long will it take to reach a velocity of 20 m/s?

20. A train starts from rest and accelerates at 1.5 m/s² for 12 seconds. How far does
it travel, and what is its final velocity?
