LIST OF SPEAKING QUESTIONS
UNIT 7: LIVING SPACE
Accommodation
1. Do you live in a house or an apartment?
- I live in a small house with my family. It includes 4 floors and 1 rooftop. My family has been
there for almost 10 years.

2. What part of the house/ apartment do you like most?


- I think I like my bedroom the most. Because it makes me feel private and comfortable.
Furthermore, it is where I can rest after all day working and studying.

3. What would you like to change about the house/ apartment?


- If i had an opportunity, I would like to change my house from 4 floors to one-room house.
Because then all family members will have many common activities and more interaction
with each other.

Your town/ city


1. What is the best thing about your town/ city?
- Ha Noi is a worth-living city with many atractive things. But if i have to choose the best
thing, i would say it is HN’s food. In HN, there are many kind of delicious food that everyone
can try with affordable price.

2. Is it easy to travel around your town/ city?


- Because of being a crowded city, the traffic in HN is pretty complicated, especially in the
rush hour. Otherwise, the public transportation in HN is very developed, everybody can use it
easily.

3. How has your town/ city changed over the past ten years?
- Oh, I would say it has undergone sweeping changes ’cause those who haven’t been there for a
long time can hardly recognize it. First of all, the general quality of the city landscape has
improved, so it’s way more beautiful now. For instance, many ancient buildings have been
restored and modern ones have been erected. Therefore, it has turned into a remarkable
tourist attraction.

Places and Buildings


1. What is your favorite place to meet your friends?
- If it’s just a talk meeting, we prefer to sit in coffee shop or sidewalk iced tea. On the other
hand, we usually go to shopping mall to play, eat and take photo in photobooth.

2. Are there many tall buildings where you live? Which building do you like most?
- I’m living in the countryside so there are not many tall buildings. But there is a few around
the area where I live.
- And I’m fond of Royal City the most. Firstly, it has a really spectacular architecture which
becomes a famous place for people to check-in. Secondly, RC is a complex of entertaining
with food zone, fashion zone,… All of this makes me love RC the most.

3. Do you like to visit historical buildings? Why/ Why not?


- Well, let me think I can’t go to future places, and the present is familiar and maybe
uninteresting, so it makes sense that I want a chance to get a small window into what life was
like in the past. On the other hand, almost historical buildings have extremely unique
architecture and is a destination suitable for all ages to visit.

Tea or coffee
1. Which do you prefer, tea or coffee?
- Definitely coffee, I’m particularly fond of the rich aroma and bold flavor of coffee, it helps
me stay awake and easy to concentrate on everything.

2. How often do you go to the coffe shop?


- Of course you know, I’m a regular at my local coffee shop and it’s a great spot for me to
study or catch up with friends.

3. Why do some people dislike tea or coffee?


- I guess bc they have problems with caffeine. My mother, for example, struggles to go to sleep
every night if on that day she drinks coffee or tea, even in the smallest amount.

UNIT 8: TRAVEL

Holidays
1. Do you like holidays? Why/ why not?
- Yes, of course. Holidays give me a chance to get away from work, relieve stress and enjoy
life more. Holidays are also an occasion for family or friend gatherings.

2. Which public holiday do you like best?


- Well let me think, I would go with Tet holiday, or Lunar New Year for it’s considered a
distinct festival of Vietnam. On this occasion, everyone gets the most time off and has more
time to enjoy family gatherings.

3. How do people spend their holidays in your country?


- It depend on the holiday. For tradional holiday like Lunar New Year, almost everyone prefer
to be with their family. On the other hand, maybe everyone often spend their time for friends
or travel.

Walking
1. Do you like walking? How often do you walk?
- Walking is one of the best ways to stay fit but I don’t like it. I rarely walking, however, when
I live on campus, I go to buy food, drink on foot.

2. Do you like to walk on your own or with others?


- I mostly just walk around the school campus, then we usually talk about university life, daily
habits, ways to learn and something others so I’m fond of walking with my friends

3. Do you think people will walk more in the future?


- Well, let me think in recent walking culture is extremely popular abroad bc in there, they had
a lot of public transportation like: underground, bus… In Vietnam, everyone have their own
motorcycle to go so public transportation is not really popular and they don’t walk often.

Tourism in your country


1. Would you say your country is a good place for travellers to visit?
- Well, let me think. Do you know Da Nang city? Da Nang is know as a the most livable city
so I went there to verify and it’s true. In there, the atmosphere is so clean,fresh; the scene is
so attractive. Besides that, there are a lot of delicous and cheap food. And there are so many
reasons why you should come here

2. What is the best season to travel in your country?


- If you come to Hanoi capital, I will recommend to you 2 reasons I really pleased: autumn and
winter but I think you shouldn’t come in the fall because you obsessed with it. The autumn
weather is so fresh, pleasant, so suitable to hang out and highly recommend eating Cốm and
drinking egg coffee in the morning.

3. What are the bad impacts of tourism in your country?


- Well, let me think beside the many benefits that the tourism industry brings, there are various
negative consequense of tourism that can negatively affect the local people staying in that
place like: environmental pollution, loss of culture and heritage, overcrowding…

Travelling
1. Do you like travelling abroad? Why/ why not?
- Of course, I’m fond of travelling and I always want to visit some tourist destination outside
Vietnam. You know, each country has its own unique beauty and culture so I would like to
oversea travel to broaden my knowledge, discover many new things…

2. If you had a chance to travel abroad, which country would you go to?
- Well, let me think. If in Asia, I will be going to Korea or Thailand bc the food there really
suits my taste and I really like their culture. And if in Europe, I would like to go
