OVERVIEW

This course has been designed to familiarize the participants

(academicians, practitioners, and policy-makers) to get a deeper
understanding of the ideas and works of The EnvGeos, my ex-
research group.

It delves into the topics like definition of the geomaterial (both

naturally and anthropogenically occurring) viz., municipal waste &
industrial byproducts and discusses the possibilities of their
application as a resource (manmade) after their intense
characterization, based on several neo-characterization
techniques (mostly indigenously developed) to facilitate a better
understanding of the possible usages of these resources for meeting
the targets of the sustainable development goals, SDGs.

September 2015: the UN General Assembly adopted the 2030 Agenda
for Sustainable Development which includes 17 Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs). Building on the principle of “leaving no
one behind”, the new Agenda emphasizes a holistic approach to
achieving sustainable development for all.

OVERVIEW ........
The methodologies and concepts employed for a comprehensive
geomaterial characterization (viz., mechanical, chemical, mineralogical,
thermal, electrical, magnetic, biological, etc.) by utilizing state-of-the-art
tools, which otherwise are not usually employed by the civil and
geotechnical engineering fraternity.

I will also present a detailed record of several needs-based

instrumentation that were developed by The EnvGeos for simulating the
influence of environmental factors on the specimens of geomaterials when
they are tested in the laboratory conditions.

The highlight of this course is the application of the Particle-Energy-

Field-Theory which diversifies the soil response system into its selective
behavior in different types of energy fields (viz., mechanical potential
energy field, kinetic energy field, chemical energy field, thermal energy
field, electrical energy field, magnetic energy field and radiation energy
field) that prevail in the geoenvironment.
