NARROWED DOWN TOPIC: HOW TO MAINTAIN HEALTHY
LIFESTYLES FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS IN THE MOST EFFECTIVE
WAY?
I. INTRODUCTION: 2MINS:
Verse 1: Hook
Good morning everyone. My name is Thiện Nhân and my
major is English Language Teacher Education. (speak with a
loud voice, funky, wave your hand).

Today, I am very happy to stand here and share with all of you
a very useful topic that I am sure it will help you a lot in your
future life. (speed up your voice a little bit, slow down until
the end, combined body language).

But first, let’s take a look at some astonishing facts about


students’ lifestyles: Nowadays, the percentage of caffeine teen
consumers in the UK is a very hot issue: According to Medical
News Today, there are 83,2% of adolescents drink caffeinated
beverages regularly. This is included many popular drinks such
as tea, coffee, energy drinks, and soft drinks. Another reliable
source shows that in 2019, 33% of teenagers claimed to be
daily coffee drinkers. Overusing of caffeinated drinks can lead
to many bad effects on teens’ health if they keep maintaining
this unhealthy lifestyle. (speak slowly to emphasize the fact

So, have you ever wondered about “How to maintain a healthy


lifestyle for university students in the most effective way?”

So, let’s travel with me to 3 outstanding methods that I’m
going to share with all of you today: Number 1, designing a
weekly timetable can be very useful. Next, having a
scientific eating daily and regular exercise is one of the
most essential methods. Finally, don’t forget to reduce
sitting on the spot and screen time. (speak slowly 2

So now, follow me, and let’s find out the way to design a

Verse 1: Designing a weekly timetable:
Teens should spend free time on the weekend building up a
specific schedule for themselves daily, weekly, or even
monthly. But from my perspective, the weekly timetable is the
best choice for beginners, then, they can improve it to a
monthly schedule if they do it well. (speak slowly to emphasize

You have to create a balanced plan between studying and


entertaining. The only thing you have to do is follow it strictly.
Maybe it can be very hard and uncomfortable or you even fail
for the first time because your old daily routine habits have
been turned upside down and rearranged in a more orderly
way than before. It can take a very long time for you to get
used to it. For example, you have to wake up earlier to do
exercise and do housework although you are very lazy instead
of sleeping until 10 AM like before you did. Moreover, you have
to go to bed at a specific time like 9 PM or 10 PM. (speak

As demonstrated, it is going to have many difficulties when


you change your daily routine, but believe me, discipline will
be the golden key. This indispensable factor that can lead you
to success in the fastest way and you will feel extremely
positive changes after seriously following the schedule (speak

So now, let’s get ready to move to the second method:


Having a scientific eating daily and regular exercise:

I am going to divide this big main idea into 2 parts: Ways to
create a scientific menu and Ways to exercise regularly.

Now, let’s find out the way to create the scientific daily
menu:
About breakfast, you must have a good breakfast every day no
matter how busy you are! You know? Breakfast is the most
crucial meal in the day, it can provide a new energy that you
burned out during the time you slept last night. An ideal
breakfast must be some foods that contain high calories such
as Pho, Bun Bo, Bun Rieu, hamburger, and so on. When you
consume breakfast regularly every day, you will have enough
energy to work for a whole day. Likewise, you can reduce the
percentage of stomach pain when skipping breakfast regularly.

About lunch, because you consumed your breakfast before, so


in lunch, you don’t have to eat too much, just eat a moderate
amount of food to maintain energy, not add a new source of
energy. I recommend you eat low-fat foods such as fish, beef,
and prawns with vegetables and fruits for dessert. Besides
that, you can also use sugared drinks like a cup of milk tea,
juice, or coffee to complement the sugar in your body to help
you feel more comfortable when working in a stressful

About dinner, this is the last time of the day, so you must not
eat too much because you are not as active as during the day
and this is the time for you to rest or work on the spot. If you
eat too much in this period, you will face the risk of obesity.
Instead, you can eat some foods that contain rich protein such
as eggs, tofu, salmon, or beef. (speak slowly to emphasize

language).

How about ways to exercise regularly?


You can spend at least 30-45 minutes per day exercising.

In the morning, you can go running, jogging at the park, you
can go to the gym to practice also or even you can practice at

When you have a break time during work, you can do some
simple exercises gently to make you feel relaxed, and reduce

At night, before going to bed, you can also do some simple


exercises: Yoga or meditation may be the first choice for you.
By following these instructions regularly, you will improve your
sleep better and deeper. When you wake up, you definitely
have an exciting mood to work for a whole day long. (speak

And now, I can not keep anyone waiting longer, let’s move to
the final part of my presentation: Reducing sitting on the

Sitting for a long time can lead to many bad effects on your
mental health like anxiety or depression. Moreover, many
dangerous diseases will have the opportunity to attack your
health such as cancer, heart disease, and even diabetes.

Prevention is better than cure, protecting our health is the


most important mission that everyone has to do: First, at work
or school, use stairs instead of elevators or escalators or at
least walk up the escalator. Second, for shorter trips, reduce
using cars or motorbikes, use a bicycle or walk, to give
yourself a chance to move more. Finally, participate in
volunteer activities or volunteer runs to raise funds and
support difficult situations. Not only it can widely spread
humanistic meanings, but it can also help us improve both
physically and mentally. (speak with a release mood, make the
audience feel comfortable).

Obviously, I have shared with all of you 3 noteworthy methods
that can improve university students’ lifestyles, it is included:
First, creating a specific weekly schedule. Next, maintaining a
daily diet and exercising regularly. Finally, cut back on your
screen and sitting time. All of you must change yourself to get
a better future and to develop yourself positively. Be a new
