The Chairperson welcomed the members and briefed the need for New syllabus according to
the New Structure of SEP 2024 and other Issues as per the agenda.

Agenda

1. Welcome address by Prof. S.AMUDHA , Chairperson, Board of Studies in Tamil and

Malayalam

2. Approval of the minutes of the previous BOS meeting.

3. Implementation and approval of the SEP framework for I and II semesters from the

Academic year- 2024-25.

4. Framed new syllabus for I and II semesters.

5. Discussed new question paper pattern for the next academic year. ( 2024-25)

6. Approval of the Panel Board Examiners.

Malayalam

Welcoming the members

The BOS for the Department of Tamil and Malayalam (UG) started at 10.30 Am with a brief
welcome address by the BOS chairperson, Prof. S.Amudha , Chairperson, Board of Studies in
Tamil and Malayalam. The external members were given an overview of the process of framing
the OBE. The Tamil and Malayalam language course is offered to the I and II- semester students
of B.A., B.V.A., B.P.A., B.Sc., B.Sc (fad) B.Com., B.B.A., B.H.M., B.C.A., and B.S.W.,. Tamil , and
Malayalam.

Approval of the minutes of the previous BOS meeting.

The minutes of the previous BOS of the Department of Tamil was read. It was approved by the
BOS.

Implementation and approval of OBE framework

A brief discussion of the course specifications and outcomes was followed by the approval of
the same.

Framed new syllabus for all the first and second semesters. The BoS has Finalized the Syllabus
and approved for Part-1 Tamil Language,Part -1 Malayalam Language. The same will be
submitted to the Bangalore North University for approval.

The list of Text books and Pattern of Question paper for Part-I, Tamil Language, , Part-I
Malayalam Language for I and II semester for various under graduate courses under the
semester scheme as per SEP – 2024 from the Academic year 2024-2025 for the period of 3
years have been provided in the syllabus.

Language Theory under Part-I carries 80 Marks and Internal assessment carries 20 Marks. Part-
I Tamil Language and Malayalam Language Part-II BA Major Tamil and BA Major Malayalam.

•The members of Board of Studies, Tamil and Malayalam helped frame the new under SEP
syllabus for I and II semesters for the upcoming batch.

•The syllabus for all the Two semesters were designed in such a way as to include Poetry,
Grammar, Prose and Language skills.

•The detailed new syllabi for I & II semester are given below.

•The new syllabus is intended to instil knowledge while also focusing on aspects such as
creativity, social awareness, pride of Tamil culture and language. And Malayalam culture and
language.
