3 Affiliate Marketing Guide
media/youtube
Remember affiliate marketing is simply where you link to products or services using a unique
URL that the company gives you, and get a commission (a percentage of the revenue) for
every sale the company makes as a result of someone clicking your link.
The amount you make is entirely determined by how many sales are made through your link,
and this usually means your earning potential is uncapped (there’s no limit).
You don’t have to actually deliver on any product or service, you just link to it - and
potentially reference it in your video if you want to help get even more conversions.
And so if you promote products you know are going to be relevant and helpful to your
audience, of course they’re going to be interested in them.
For example Amazon has an affiliate program you can join called Amazon Associates, but
the percentage from this will be pretty low as Amazon don’t really need much help promoting
themselves. That said, it’s still worth joining as you have nothing to lose from including
Amazon affiliate links to your equipment, or anything you ever reference within your videos
that people can buy on Amazon - so you may as well get the money since it’s no real work,
and Amazon sells pretty much everything. Over time those little commissions will all add up,
and it only takes a few minutes to sign up and get started. Plus it’s useful for viewers too, as
a lot of them will wonder what equipment you use in your videos.
But where you can make serious money with affiliate marketing is when you’re
recommending products or services that pay maybe 20% or even up to 50% of the sales
price.
As for what products or services to sell, the best starting point is to consider what products
or services you actually use or like. A lot of them will have some kind of affiliate or referral
program if you search for it. You can also check out a company’s website and look for a tab
in the footer that says ‘affiliates’.
If they don’t have an affiliate programme, you can always still reach out to them directly to
see if you can strike up a deal, by explaining how you have a YouTube audience you think
would really like their product/service. Some of them may be interested in some sort of
commission split with you if you can help bring them new sales.
Another option is to browse affiliate marketplaces where business owners list their products
or services, and you can get your unique link to start promoting them.
https://magnates.media/youtube
For example, one of the largest is called Clickbank. You’ll find all kinds of different products
here categorised into different niches. And then once you’ve found something you want to
promote on your channel that makes sense for your audience, just get your own unique link
with a tracking code on the end, as this will allow them to tell which sales come from you so
you can get paid for them.
Make sure you always use your tracking link with the code on the end, as otherwise it won’t
be credited to you if you just send people to their main website.
There are plenty of other alternative affiliate marketplaces too where you can find the right
products or services you want to promote. There’s Share-A-Sale, PartnerStack, Impact
Radius, Jvzoo, CJ affiliate, Paydotcom, E-Junkie, and countless others if you search for
them.
And some of the products and services on here offer high commissions too – for example if
you’re selling a $500 product and getting 50% commission, you can earn $250 every time
someone buys through your link, and when you’re promoting products that are highly
relevant to your niche and your audience, those earnings could rack up fast.
Remember, you can have as many links as you want in your YouTube description, so you
can list out all your recommendations and just copy and paste them into all your
descriptions. However, I would generally recommend not having too many different links,
and just focusing on the small amount that makes most sense for you and your audience.
https://magnates.media/youtube
Firstly, you’ll see I’ve created my own custom URLs for most of them, because that
way I don’t have to go and find the different links every time, I just know it’s my
website link and then whichever relevant keyword. It also makes the links look neater.
You can do this too with a great free tool called Short.io. (If you don’t have your own
domain and just want a free short link you can track, you can also use bit.ly)
Secondly, you’ll notice the top 4 are all things you’re likely going to be using in your own
business.
The top 2 in particular (where you’re going to get your music and how you or your team are
going to edit your videos) are things your audience will want to know. I guarantee you’ll
eventually start getting comments of ‘where is this song from?’ or ‘how did you edit this?’. So
being a part of those affiliate programmes yourself (which are free and easy to join) means
you can simply include your affiliate links in the description of every video so people can find
them and click them if they want.
This is zero work to you as you’re not actively promoting them in your video - they are just
there for when people look in your description. But it’s made me thousands of dollars of easy
passive income, and it can help you do the same too.
You can even set ‘upload defaults’ within youtube studio (under settings) so your
links will already be there for every video and you don’t even have to remember to
add them to the description.
I’ll also sometimes include these affiliate links in a pinned comment I make on my own video,
which also helps drive more clicks and sales as it’s right at the top of the comments section.
It’s a very effective way to make some extra money very easily.

There’s bound to be people in your audience who also want to start their own YouTube
channels, and so if you recommend this course, you can get a percentage of the profits if
they join via your unique link.
This is win-win for everyone. I get a new course member, you get a commission with almost
no work, and the new member hopefully gets lots of value from the course which they
wouldn’t have known about if not for you.
Now at the moment I’m still setting up the affiliate program so that you’ll be able to properly
track your stats and get paid quickly, but if you are interested in this concept, simply fill out
the very short form that’s linked under the video training for this lesson, and I’ll contact you
with more info when the affiliate program has officially started.
