Activity 1

"What is a Book?"
1. Teacher will start the lesson by gathering the children in a circle and
showing them a variety of books (both hardcover and paperback).
● Ask the children to identify what the items are ("What do we call
this?"), guiding them to answer "books."
● Discuss the parts of a book:
○ Cover: "This is the book's cover, where the title and pictures
are."
○ Pages: "These are the pages that hold the story."
○ Spine: "This is the spine that holds the book together."
● Explain that books are special and should be treated carefully so that
they last a long time.

Activity 2

Demonstrating Book Care

Activity: "Book Care Tips Chart"

1. Teacher on a whiteboard or chart paper, create a simple "Book Care


Tips" chart with images and words.
● Discuss the following book care rules, explaining each one to the
children:
1. No tearing pages (draw a picture of a page with a tear).
2. No scribbling (show a picture of a book with clean pages).
3. Turn pages gently (depict a child gently turning a page).
4. Keep books clean and dry (illustrate a child wiping a
book).
5. Return books to their proper place (show a picture of a
child putting a book back on a shelf).
● Engage children by asking questions like, "What happens if we tear
a page? What can we do to keep our books clean?"
