Offline Corporate Internship Guidelines


It is mandatory for all students pursuing their Second year
B.Com/BBA/B.Sc./BA to take up an Offline or Hybrid corporate internship
for a period of four weeks before the commencement of their third year
respectively.

The time period allotted for this internship is from 1st July 2024 to 31st May
2025.

Objectives:

● Internship aims at enabling the students to get a practical exposure to


the working/functioning of the industry.

● Internship provides an opportunity to students to substantiate their


classroom learning with practical experience.

General Guidelines:

● The Offline/Hybrid Corporate Internship chosen must be for a


minimum of 4 weeks of 140 hrs (7 or 8 work hours in a day from
Monday to Friday).

● Students are required to make use of the period from 1st July 2024 to
31st May 2025 exclusively for their internship. There will be no
additional extension granted to students beyond this timeframe.

● The students need to be prepared for the internship without affecting


their studies and should schedule a timeframe with no possibility of an
extension.

● Students who fail to submit their internship certificates and reports
within the designated time frame will be classified as defaulters.

● B. Com students are limited to pursuing internships exclusively with


commerce management firms and are prohibited from seeking
placements in bars, restaurants, or research positions within the
management field.

● B. Sc and BA students can purse job opportunities in the field of


Economics/Research/Literature/Commerce or Management.

● Internships can be pursued in an organisation located anywhere in


India or abroad. The area of Internship can be only in the fields of
Commerce and Management. Students can also intern in Social
Organisations (i.e. Non – Governmental Organisations or Non – Profit
Organisations), but has to be part of the division related to Commerce
and Management such as Accounts, Finance, Marketing, Human
Resources etc.

● The choice of internship is no way associated with choice of electives in


the final year.

● Students are not encouraged to work in their own organisations, parent


owned organisations or any related party owned organisations.

● Students are not recommended to take up internship which involves


data collection of our college students or another information of the
institution.

● If any of the company asks you to make any payment using college
name for getting the internship or the completion certificate kindly
report the same to the internship coordinator immediately and refrain
making such payments.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

● Once you get your internship you are expected to send an email to
placementsteam@sjcc.edu.in and with the subject line as given in the
example. (Example: ABHI 23SJCCC105) on or before 20th March, 2025
attaching the following:
⮚ Offer letter received from the organisation for internship

⮚ Job description

⮚ Contact details of the HR of the organisation

⮚ Scanned copy of duly filled in Internship Information Summary


Form (specimen copy is part of this document itself).
● The Placement and Internship Cell will verify the contents of the mail
and only if the internship is found to be fulfilling all the criterions
listed in this document, a reply will be sent to the student (on or before
20th March, 2025) approving the internship.

● Only after getting approval email the student can continue with the
internship. If a student continues with the internship without the
approval, the internship pursued will be considered invalid.

Other Categories:

1. Students Pursuing CA Articleship:


Those pursuing their CA articleship in an audit firm, the articleship
from 1st July, 2024 to 31st May, 2025, will be considered as corporate
internship. Student pursuing CA your Articleship, Integrated Course
on Information Technology and Soft Skill (ICITSS) will consider IT
training as a valid Internship

Documents to be submitted before 20th March, 2025 (through a mail to


placementsteam@sjcc.edu.in with the subject line as given in the
example.
Example: ABHI 23SJCCC105):

a. Copy of the Offer Letter given by the Organisation and


b. A bona fide letter from the organisation where the student is doing
the articleship stating that this period of their articleship is
recognised as internship for college purposes.

2. Students selected for internships for organisations (like Goldman


Sachs and Anklesaria) floated through college.
The students who are selected for the internship for organisations
floated through college placement cell will follow the timelines

prescribed by the organisation and are also expected to follow the
guidelines for internship report preparation as prescribed in this
document. Mail the details of internship to
placementsteam@sjcc.edu.in before 20th March, 2025.

3. Students writing their professional exam: Students who are writing


their professional exams during the assigned internship period are
expected to complete their internship by 31st May 2025. Other
evaluations criteria will remain the same. It is mandatory for students
to write an email to placementsteam@sjcc.edu.in with the details of
their internship details.

Note: Students in other professional programs must effectively


schedule and complete the corporate internship within the specified
timeframe, without any exceptions granted beyond the deadline.

4. Full Time/Part Time Job: If there is any student pursuing a full


time/part time job post College Regular Hours, that will be considered
as corporate internship and the evaluation criteria remains the same. It
is mandatory for students to write an email to
placementsteam@sjcc.edu.in with the details of their full time or part
time job by 20th March, 2025.
Part – time job students are required to submit the company's offer
letter within the specified timeframe.

Documents to be obtained from the Internship Organisation for


preparation of Internship Report: At the end of the period of internship, the
students are expected to obtain the below mentioned documents from the
Internship Organisation and prepare the internship report as per the
Internship Report guidelines. The documents to be obtained from the
Internship Organisation are as follows:

a. Certificate from the Organisation/ Company certificate (Should be


obtained from the Respective Organisation in their Letterhead
signed by the Head of the Organisation or the HR Manager).
b. Duly filled in Confidentiality Rating Form from the Organisation
(specimen copy attached with this document).

Upon finishing the internship, students are encouraged to present the Letter
of Appreciation (found on page 10 of this document) to the respective
organization where they interned, expressing gratitude for the opportunity.

Guidelines for preparation of Internship Report

Ensure the instructions given below are followed while preparing the
internship report. Failing to follow the instructions will result in re-doing the
internship report.
1. Font Style: Book Antiqua
2. Font Size:
a) For headings – 14
b) For Others – 12
3. Line & Paragraph Spacing: 1.15
4. Justification: Centre & Justified
5. Page Border: Standard Page Border is mandatory for all pages

The Internship Report should include the following in the same order. The
specimen copy of all the forms is part of this document.
1. Cover Page (Specimen copy attached with this document)
2. Form 1 - Declaration from the student (Specimen copy attached with
this document)
3. Form 2 – Certificate from the Organisation/Company certificate -
Should be obtained from the Respective Organisation in their
Letterhead signed by the Head of the Organisation or the HR Manager
4. Form 3 – Confidential Rating (Specimen copy attached with this
document)
5. Form 4 – Internship Information Summary (Specimen copy attached
with this document)
6. Form 5 – Letter of Appreciation (page 11 of this document). Students
are encouraged to present a Letter of Appreciation (LOA) to the
organizations where they have worked, as a gesture of gratitude on
behalf of the college.
7. Company details i.e., Business undertaken, Organizational Structure,
Clientele etc.
8. Work profile and job responsibilities handled by the students during
the course of internship, their contribution and learning experience.
9. Weekly report of work done.

Note:
a. The mode of submission of the internship report will be circulated later.
b. The content for point number 7, 8 and 9 mentioned above cannot exceed more
than 10 pages.
c. The Letter of Introduction that the Organisation requires from college is not
necessary to be part of the Internship Report.

Assessment of Internship:

a. After completion of the Internship, the students are supposed to


prepare the Internship Report as per the guidelines and submit the
same to the Placement and Internship Cell by 1st June, 2025).
b. After submission of the report, the students are expected to prepare for
a one – on – one question and answer session with the allotted
Internship guide on the day allotted for Internship VIVA (Tentative
date 1st July, 2025 to 30th of July, 2025.
c. The concerned internship guide will evaluate the student only on the
date allotted for Internship VIVA based on the following criteria’s:
● Internship Report - 40 Marks

● Question and Answer Session - 40 Marks

● Confidential Rating - 10 Marks

● Others – 10 Marks
Securing Approval of internship in the given time frame
Submission of report before the deadline
Completion of VIVA before the Deadline

d. The allocation of external examiners will be centralised and taken care


by the Placement and Internship Cell.
e. Students who successfully complete the internship and VIVA will be
allocated the respective credits as per the curriculum that will appear
on the 6th semester marks card.

The Department of Commerce was established in 1949 at St. Joseph’s College


(est. 1882) which was moved to 163 Brigade Road campus in 1972 to become
an independent college viz, St. Joseph’s College of Commerce (SJCC). It
became an autonomous institution in October 2005 and was recognized as
“College with Potential for Excellence” in February 2010 by University Grants
Commission.

The institution has continuously been ranked as one of the top most colleges
for commerce education in the country. The college has been ranked 65 th
under the college category by the National Institutional Ranking Framework
(NIRF) in 2022. The institution is accredited with an ‘A++’ grade by the
National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) during the 4 th cycle
in February, 2021.

The college encourages students of the 4th semester to undertake an


internship programme in any organization during summer before they begin
their 5th semester. The objective of the internship is to expose the students to
