6.0 Reversible Hammer Mill Technical Parameters

6.1 Introduction

SPM-1618 two-way fine crusher (Hammer mill) is mainly used for finely crushing coal for power station, also
for crushing brittle materials (e.g. coal gangue, furnace slag, lime stone, coke, ore with compressive strength
not greater than 120Mpa), especially being suitable to fine crush for materials used for boilers with circulating
fluidized bed. The fine crusher consists of fine crusher body, speed fluid coupling, electric motor and
hydraulic station, etc.

7.0 Maintenance
7.1 Preventive maintenance
A. Daily inspection
 Check the condition of hammers if they are worn out or not.
 Check the condition of breaker plates, liners if they are worn out or not.
 Check the condition of bellows and their bolts.
 Check bearing temperature and vibrations.
 Apply grease to bearings regularly
 Check fluid coupling oil level, outlet pressure and temperature.
 Check fluid coupling for oil leakages.
 Change rotational direction at regular intervals.
 Service bearings at regular intervals
 Check the alignment of the motor & Crusher, if required re-alignment to
Be done.
 Clear the Safety document after ensuring that the work area was completed.
Weekly and monthly maintenance procedure
 Ensure locks out tag out (LOTO) procedures are done before doing any task on crasher.
 During disassembly mark the parts with piece of chalk for ease of recognition while assembly again
to avoid costly mistakes
 Grease according to schedule. In case the machine is idle for a long time Check the bearing for rust.
 Check all bolts and nuts from time to time.
 Ensure that the coupling guards are in position all the time except during drive running.
 Before Switching “ON” ensure the moment of the rotor.
 Hammer mill should run quietly without any unusual noise.
 Feed material should be strictly feed uniformly across width of the rotor.
 Every three weeks reverse the Direction of the rotation to ensure uniform wear and tear of the tips,
grinding jibs and liners.
 In case of any sudden noise, it indicates the Presence of Large size of foreign material or tramp iron.
DO NOT continue to run with this noise. Hammer mill is brought to rest and cleaned. Inspect the
internal parts and damaged parts are to be changed immediately.
 Never run the hammer mill without an arm or Head.
 Ensure that the Fluid couplings and motors are in position never run the mill without any one of them
is missing.

7.2 Troubleshooting

Sl.No Cause Action

Increasing of Check the grease in Plummer blocks remove the old
1 bearing grease if it’s contaminated, replace New grease as
temperatures per document instructions.
a) Check the gap between hammer to grinding jib
as per drawing.
2 Increase in size of b) Check the hammer erosion, if less than as per
output coal drawing size replace with new one.
c) Check the grinding jib size and thickness, if it is
less than as per manual replace with new one.
