the acceleration of the car and the distance travelled.

12. A projectile was fired with an initial velocity of 200m/s at an angle of 300
to the horizontal. Neglecting air resistance, until it strikes the horizontal level, calculate:

13. An inextensible cable of negligible mass is used to drag a log on a rough horizontal surface.
The tension in the cable is 850 N and it acts at an angle of 35° to the horizontal. The log is dragged
over a distance of 45m. The frictional force experienced by the log is 150 N.

14. A marksman holds a rifle of mass 𝑚𝑅 = 3.0 𝑘𝑔 loosely in his hands, so as to let it recoil freely
when fired. He fires a bullet of mass 𝑚𝐵 = 5.0 𝑔 horizontally with a velocity relative to the ground
of 𝑣𝐵 = 300 𝑚⁄𝑠. What is the recoil velocity of the rifle? What is the kinetic energy of the bullet?

15. The angular velocity of helicopter blades (a rotor) changes from 320 rev/min to 225 rev/min
in 5.0 s as the rotor slows down to rest.
a) What time interval is required for the blades to come to rest from their initial angular velocity
of 320 rev/min?
b) How many revolutions do the blades make in coming to rest from the initial 320 rev/min?
