Digital communication is the electronic exchange of information, data or messages. It
takes many forms and has become the communication standard for individuals and
organizations over the past few decades. When you send an email, text a friend or
post on social media, you are using digital communication. And with the introduction of
new technologies, its becoming a main stay for our everyday interaction.
Communication through digital tools has come a long way since the introduction of
telegraph in the 19th Century. The first one in Telegraph, it has revolutionized
communication making it possible to send messages across continent in a matter of
hours.
The second one is Telephone, in the early 20 th Century we saw the introduction of
telephone which enables people to talk in real time over long distances. By the mid 20th
Century to the regular fixture in homes and offices worldwide.
Third is the internet, it came onto the scene in 1983 making it possible to exchange
information and communicate with others instantly and the worldwide.
The other is the email, instant messages and social media. The internet paved the way
for email, instant messaging sand online forums. Social media platforms like Facebook,
twitter, Instagram made it easy to communicate with family and friends around the
world.
The mobile phones, the first call from a mobile device was made in 1973. Known as

types of digital communication. We have the email that we are familiar with. Its one of
the most popular digital communication mediums, allowing us to send and receive
messages, documents and other files over the internet. Even if we don’t use email in
our personal life, its probably one of the primary ways we communicate at work. We
also have the instant messaging which enables us to send and receive messages over
the internet using apps like WhatsApp, face book messenger and imessage. With the
rise of remote work, video conferencing tools have become absolutely essential.
Remote workers, business, education institution and more use video conferencing to
collaborate and communicate across time zones. Over 59% of the world population
uses social media. Facebook, Instagram and twitter are just a few examples of social
platform where users share information, photo and videos with friends and followers.
Digital tools have revolutionized the way we connect, making it faster, more efficient
and more accessible to talk to each. Here are some of the many benefits of digital

The first one is the environmentally friendly, it has reduced paper use and minimizes
carbon emission, making it a more environmentally friendly option. Increased
