How to Make Fried Rice (for 3 servings)

Ingredients:

 3 cups of cooked rice (preferably cold, leftover rice works best)

 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
 2 cloves garlic, minced
 1 small onion, chopped
 1 carrot, diced
 2 eggs, beaten
 1/2 cup cooked chicken or shrimp (optional)
 3 tablespoons soy sauce
 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
 Salt and pepper to taste
 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
 Cucumber slices (for serving)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Ingredients:

o If you haven’t done so already, cook the rice and let it cool. Cold rice works
better for fried rice because it’s less sticky.
o Chop the vegetables and protein (chicken or shrimp) into small pieces.
2. Heat the Pan:
o Heat a large frying pan or wok over medium heat. Add the vegetable oil and
let it warm up.
3. Cook the Garlic and Onion:
o Add the minced garlic and chopped onion to the pan. Stir-fry for about 2-3
minutes until fragrant and the onion becomes translucent.
4. Add Carrots and Cook:
o Add the diced carrot to the pan and cook for another 2 minutes, stirring
frequently.
5. Scramble the Eggs:
o Push the vegetables to one side of the pan and pour the beaten eggs into the
empty space. Scramble the eggs until cooked through, then mix them with the
vegetables.
6. Add Rice and Protein:
o Add the cold cooked rice to the pan, breaking up any clumps. Stir-fry for
about 3-4 minutes, making sure the rice is evenly mixed with the vegetables
and eggs.
o If using cooked chicken or shrimp, add them to the pan at this point and mix
well.
7. Season the Rice:
o Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), salt, and pepper. Stir everything
together until the rice is evenly coated with the sauces.
8. Garnish and Serve:
o Once everything is well-mixed and heated through, remove the pan from the
heat. Serve the fried rice in bowls, garnished with chopped green onions and
cucumber slices on the side.
