ZXRAN V9200 Product Description

1 Overview

1.1 Introduction

This document provides a high-level description of the Next Generation Baseband

Processing Unit (NG BBU), the ZXRAN V9200 (hereinafter referred to as “V9200”), used
in ZTE multi-mode wireless solutions.

The V9200 can be inserted into the integrated macro base station, or connected to
AAU/RRU making the distributed base station. It is responsible for processing the
baseband signals. Based on ZTE unified platform, it supports TD-LTE, Pre5G and 5G
single modes or multi-mode by software configuration/upgrade. It enables operators to
deploy one unified radio access network rather than independent TD-LTE, Pre5G or 5G
networks, which brings simplicity and convenience with low CAPEX and OPEX. Figure
1-1 shows the position of the V9200 in the typical multi-mode network.

Figure 1-1 Position of the V9200 in TD-LTE/Pre5G/5G Multi-Mode Network

The document is structured in 4 chapters. Chapter1 provides the V9200 characteristics,

its key benefits and application scenarios. Chapter 2 describes the functionality. Chapter
3 describes the architecture. Chapter 4 covers the system specifications. Chapter 5
introduces the installation methods.

ZXRAN V9200 Product Description

1.2 Benefits

 Multi-Mode Baseband Unit

The V9200 supports kinds of wireless access technologies simultaneously, including

TD-LTE, Pre5G and 5G. All RATs share common control and transmission, hence
satisfying the operators’ need for minimum hardware change.

 Large Capacity

Single rack supports 120 x 20 MHz x 2T2R/2T4R/4T4R/8T8R TD-LTE cells or 30 x

100 MHz x 64T64R Massive MIMO 5G sub-6G cells which improves spectrum
efficiency greatly and makes it easy for deploying the network phase by phase. It
can also support mmWave and the capacity depends on the selection of the
baseband board. When the number of users increases, the V9200’s capacity can
be expanded by adding boards which accommodates the increased users.

 Plug-in Design for Shelf, Zero Footprint, Convenient Deployment

The V9200 is 19-inch in width, 2U in height and 18 kg (with full configuration) in

weight. It can be conveniently mounted on a wall, in a 19-inch cabinet or an outdoor
site-supporting cabinet, thus saving a lot of installation space.

 Flexible Networking

The V9200 provides FE/GE/10GE/25GE/100GE interfaces and IP networking. It

supports AAU/RRU in various networking topologysuch as star and chain topology
to satisfy the requirements of operators in different environments and under different
transmission conditions.

1.3 Application Scenarios

The V9200 Baseband unit can mounted in 19-inch standard cabinet or the outdoor site-
supporting cabinet.
