Daphne the Dolphin

Pattern created by Rachel Baumann of ChiChi's Whimsical Crochet.


Supplies Needed:
• 3 mm crochet hook
• 6 mm safety eyes
• Light Gray Worsted Weight Yarn- I used Loops & Threads Snuggly Wuggly Baby Yarn in Soft
Gray
• Fiber fill
• Scissors
• Stitch markers or stitch counter (if needed)

Notes:
• This pattern is made using US terms.
• The dolphin can be made smaller by reducing the ply yarn you are using and the hook size.
• Crochet using a tight stitch and stuff generously so it keeps it shape.

DC- Double Crochet
DEC- decrease
FO- Finish off
HDC- Half Double Crochet
INC-increase
MC- Magic Circle
SC- single crochet
SL- Slip stitch

Head/Body

Round 1: 5SC in MC (5)


Round 2: INC, 4SC (6)
Round 3: SC around (6)
Round 4: (2SC, INC) X 2 (8)
Round 5: INC, 7SC (9)
Round 6: (2SC, INC) X 3 (12)
Round 7: (3SC, INC) X 3 (15)
Round 8: SC around (15)
Round 9: (4SC, INC) X 3 (18)
Round 10: (5SC, INC) X 3 (21)
Round 11: SC around (21)
Round 12: (6SC, INC) X 3 (24)
Round 13: (2SC., DEC) X 6 (18)
*stop and stuff all the way to the tail end.
Round 14: (4SC, DEC) X 3 (15)
Round 15: (3SC, DEC) X3 (12)
*insert eyes in between rounds 13/14- 8 stitches apart
Round 16: (2SC, DEC) X 3 (9
Round 17: SC around (9)
*Finish stuffing your dolphin
Round 18: DEC, 7SC (8)
Round 19: SC around (8), SL
*Leave a tail to close up hole.
To create the snout (rostrum) go through the Back Loops of each stitch
around and pull to close up hole.
Side Fins (Make 2)
Chain 5
In 2nd chain from hook SL, SC, HDC, and in last chain do a DC & SL
Then finish off and leave a long tail for sewing onto body.

Tail
Chain 10

In 2nd chain from hook SL, SC, HDC, DC, SL, DC, HDC, SC, SL

Then finish off and leave a long tail for sewing onto body.
Top Fin
Chain 4
SL, SC, HDC
Then finish off and leave a long tail for sewing onto body.
Instructions for Assembly
1. Attach top fin between rows 8 through 11. Attach side fins two rounds back from the eyes and 2
stitches down.
2. Attach tail to round one.
