A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate an understanding of concepts and
principles in installing configuring computer systems

B. Performance Standards The learners shall be able to install and configure computer systems based on
established procedures and systems requirements.
C. Learning Competencies
D. Specific Objectives At the end of the session, the learners shall be able to:
1. Discuss in class how to reformat a computer using Windows operating
system.
2. Identify what are the things to consider before reformatting a computer.
3. To develop the student’s decision making skills on why there is a need to
reformat a computer.

Before we proceed to our lesson for this day, I would like to ask... Students answered “Computer”
what comes in to your mind when you see the word Virus and
Reformat?

Very good! That is correct. Who owns a computer here in their
home?

Great! I believe everyone here has used computers in doing


assignments, reports, and school projects.
Some are for leisure like Facebook, YouTube or Online Games. Student 1 answered: One time our computer just
won’t open an application.

Have you experienced any trouble sometimes like when the


computer is not responding? Student 2 answered: There are multiple screens that
keeps on popping up and we cannot properly use the
computer.

Student 3 answered: We hired to a computer


Can someone share their experience and tell how the problem was techncian to check on it for us and we are told that
resolved? our computer needs to be reformatted in order to fix
the issue.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I have one more question. Student 3 answered: Around 500 pesos.

System?”

Formatting a computer involves erasing all of the data on the


computer’s hard drives and then reinstalling the operating system so Student 4 asked: Ma’am what are the things that are

Things that are needed before reformatting a Computer

Windows 7 since it’s the most used operating system today.
*Product Keys are included in the package it consist of 25 characters

Will only be used if the computer or laptop has no available CD

So we have all that we need. Now class, not all computer issues can
be resolved by reformatting. There are a lot of things that you need
to check out first. Sometimes it might be something to do with the
computer hardware or software.

Can you give me some good examples of computer issues that can
be resolved by reformatting a computer?

Very good! Yes, that is correct. Any other answers?

Yes that is correct but sometimes it might just need some updates or
you can do a quick uninstall and reinstall of the application that is
not working but if the problem persist consult the doctor.

Here are the reasons why you might need to reformat a computer:

STEP 1 : BACK UP YOUR DATA


STEP 2 : SET YOUR BIOS TO BOOT FROM
CD OR FLASH DRIVE

BIOS
-(basic input/output system) is the program a personal computer's
microprocessor uses to get the computer system started after you
turn it on.

In order to access the BIOS you will need to restart the computer.
The key to do this will be displayed and it varies by manufacturer.

The most common keys are:

STEP 3 : BEGIN SETUP


If the CD has been inserted and the BIOS is set correctly, you will
see a message telling you to Press a key on the keyboard and set up

Your username will be used to log in to the computer and
personalize your account.

STEP 12 : ENTER YOUR PRODUCT KEY


This is the 25-character key that came with your copy of Windows.

STEP 13 : SELECT YOUR WINDOWS


UPDATE OPTION
This is recommended to make sure that your copy of Windows runs
stably.

STEP 14 : SELECT YOUR DATE AND TIME


These should be correct already as they are linked to your BIOS.

STEP 15 : EXPLORE YOUR DESKTOP


After one final loading screen, your new Windows 7 desktop will
appear. Installation is now complete.

D) Integration

With these steps done, your computer is now back to its


default state. You will now be able to reformat computers and save a
lot by doing it by yourself but more importantly this is an added skill
that you can use to generate income.

E) Group Activity

Handouts cut outs that includes the Steps on Reformatting a


Computer. The first group to finish arranging and has the most
correct steps will be the winner.
