Research Proposal calls for female researchers
Empowering women in research is essential for fostering diverse perspectives, driving innovative
solutions, and building an inclusive scientific community that addresses global challenges with
equity and excellence. The main purpose of this call is to encourage and support women
researchers by providing opportunities to showcase their talents, ideas, and contributions to the
advancement of knowledge. By inviting female-led research proposals, we seek to foster gender
diversity, address gender gaps, empower female researchers, encourage novel insights and
strengthen global development goals. Hence Research and Community Service Vice President
Office cordially invites all DMU female academic staff to submit research proposals to be
funded in 2024/2025 budget year. Collaborative, inclusive, integrative proposals from diverse
fields and perspectives prioritizing cross-disciplinary knowledge sharing and fostering innovation
with combinations of methodologies from different disciplines are welcome. Proposals shall be
impactful which can bring good policy briefs and relevant policy inputs.
The call particularly focuses on the following Research Themes:
GRAND THEME I
✓ Agricultural production & productivity
✓ ICT
✓ Manufacturing
✓ Mining
✓ Tourism
✓ Enablers (Science, Technology, Education, Health, Economy, and Peace and Diplomacy)
✓ Cross-Cutting Issues
GRAND THEME II
✓ Extraction of medicinal plants for treatments such as Therapeutics, Dermatological,
Cosmetically and related purpose
✓ Indigenous knowledge
GRAND THEME III
✓ Ecosystem Services and Watershed Health
✓ Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Strategies
✓ Sustainable Agriculture and Water Resource Management
✓ Gender Inclusive Integrated Watershed Management
✓ Urbanization and Watershed Impacts
✓ Sustainable Livelihoods and Resource-Based Enterprises
✓ Use of Technological Innovation in Smart Watershed Management
✓ Resource Rivalry & Conflict resolution in Watershed Management
Eligibility
➢ Be the member of DMU female academic staff
➢ Two or more similar team members should not be included on different proposal
interchangeability, one time as a PI and in other time being a Co-PI. Researchers should
submit proposal with different research team members and compositions.
➢ PI includes Pharmacy, Botany, Phytochemistry, Bio chemistry, Anatomy, Horticulture,
Microbiology, Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Plant Biology¸ Food Science
and Technology, Dermatologists, Toxicologists, Ethnobotany, Biotechnology and related
fields (GRAND THEME II)
Requirements
➢ The member of the researchers per proposal should be multidisciplinary/transdisciplinary
➢ Proposals must be within the priority area of the research proposal call
➢ Proposals should strictly follow the research writing format of Research and Technology
Transfer Directorate (RTTD)
➢ Each proposal should be screened at department level and evaluated by evaluators based
on RTTD research evaluation criteria at Campus/College/Institution/School/Academy
level (GRAND THEME I)
➢ The result of the evaluators for each proposal should be summarized and provided
according to their rank in the respective Campus/College/Institution/School/Academy
