    GENERAL SURGERY

    1) A 25 years old young man presented to the accident and


    Emergency unit with a one week history of abdominal pain
    which started from the umbilicus and later migrated to the right
    iliac fossa. He has been severely nauseated and has been
    vomiting. On examination, the surgical registrar noted that he
    was febrile and has a mass in the right iliac fossa which was
    very tender.

    Outline the differential diagnosis

    How will you investigate this man?

    Describe how you will manage the patient.

    2) A 20 year old medical student was brought to the AEU


    following a sudden onset of severe right testicular pain while he
    was preparing to go for his lectures. He was otherwise healthy.
    What are the likely causes?
