CREATION OF MAN

In Genesis 1:26-28, God creates humanity in His image, both male and female, and blesses them
with the responsibility to populate the earth and have dominion over all creatures. This account
emphasizes the equality of men and women in reflecting God's image and their shared
stewardship over creation.

In Genesis 2:18-25, the focus shifts to a detailed creation story where God forms Adam from the
dust and places him in the Garden of Eden. Recognizing Adam's need for companionship, God
creates Eve from one of his ribs. Adam acknowledges her as "bone of my bones," and the chapter
concludes with the establishment of marriage, where man and woman are united as one flesh.

SYMBOLISM IN HUMAN DISOBEDIENCE (SERPENT)

The serpent in Genesis 3 symbolizes temptation, evil, and the origin of human disobedience. It
represents the temptation to defy God’s commands, convincing Eve that eating the forbidden
fruit would make her like God. In Christian theology, it is often seen as a symbol of Satan,
embodying the forces of evil that lead humanity into sin. The serpent also reflects the desire for
forbidden knowledge and power, representing humanity's pride and the temptation to seek
autonomy apart from God. Ultimately, it catalyzes the Fall, highlighting the consequences of
disobedience and broken relationship with God.
