23)Two tangents PQ and PR are drawn from an external point P to a circle with centre
O. Prove that QORP is a cyclic quadrilateral.

In the figure given below, common tangents AB and CD to two circles intersect at E.
Prove that AB = CD.

24) Evaluate: 2√2 cos 45° sin 30° + 2√3 cos 30°.

25) Find the area of the sector of a circle of radius 5 cm, if the corresponding arc length
is 3.5 cm.

The length of minute hand of a clock is 12 cm. Find the area of the face of the clock
described by the minute hand in 35 minutes.

26) A forester wants to plant 66 mango trees, 88 orange trees and 110 apple trees in
equal rows (in terms of number of trees). Also, he wants to make distinct rows of
trees (i.e. only one type of trees in one row). Find the number of minimum rows.
27) If 𝛼 and 𝛽 are the zeroes of the polynomial 𝑝(𝑥) = 𝑥 2 − (𝑘 − 6)𝑥 + 2(2𝑘 − 1), then

32) In the centre of a rectangular lawn of dimensions 50 m × 40 m, a rectangular pond


has to be constructed so that the area of the grass surrounding the pond would be
1184 m2, as shown in the figure given below. Find the length and breadth of the
pond.

OR
A train travelling at uniform speed for 360 km, would have taken 48 minutes less to
travel the same distance if its speed were 5 km/hr more. Find the original speed of
the train.

33) State and prove Basic Proportionality Theorem.

34) A building is in the form of a cylinder surmounted by a hemispherical vaulted dome

and contains 41 21 m3 of air. If the internal diameter of the dome is equal to its total
height above the floor, find the height of the building?

A medicine capsule is in the shape of a cylinder with two hemispheres stuck to each
of its ends (as shown in the figure below). The length of the entire capsule is 14 mm
and the diameter of the capsule is 5 mm. Find its surface area.
35) If the mean of the following data is 53, then find the missing frequencies 𝑓1 and 𝑓2 .

Section E

36) Applications of AP in day-to-day life:


Do you know, we can find A.P. in many situations in our
day-to-day life. One such example is a tissue paper roll,
in which the first term is the diameter of the core of the
roll and twice the thickness of the paper is the common
difference. If the sum of first 𝑛 rolls of the tissue on a roll
is 𝑆𝑛 = 0.1𝑛2 + 7.9𝑛 (in cm), then answer the following
questions.

i) Find the radius of the core of the roll. 1 mark

ii) Find the value of 𝑆2 . 1 mark

iii) Find the value 𝑎2 i.e. the 2nd term. 2 marks


OR
Find the thickness of each tissue sheet.

37) Satellite view:


Satellite image of a colony is shown below. In this view, a particular house is pointed
out by a flag, which is situated at the point of intersection of 𝑥 and 𝑦-axes. If we go 2
cm east and 3 cm north from the house, then we reach to a Grocery store. If we go 4
cm west and 6 cm south from the house, then reach to a Electrician’s shop. If we go 6
cm east and 8 cm south from the house, then we reach to a food cart. If we go 6 cm
west and 8 cm north from the house, we reach to a bus stand.
Based on the above information, answer the following questions:

i) Find the distance between bus stand and house. 1 mark

ii) Find the coordinates of midpoint line segment joining food cart and 1 mark
bus stand.

iii) Find the ratio in which the house divides the line segment joining 2 marks
Electrician’s shop and grocery store.
OR
Check whether the coordinates of positions of bus stand, grocery
story, food cart and electrician’s shop form a parallelogram.
38) Applications of Trigonometry for Moving car:
Rohit is standing at the top of the building observes a car at an angle of 30°, which is
approaching the foot of the building with a uniform speed. Six seconds later, angle of
depression of the car changes to 60° and the distance of the car from the building at
this instant is 25 m.

Answer the following questions based on the above information.

i) The height of the building is __________ m. 1 mark

ii) Find the distance between the two positions of the car. 1 mark

iii) Find the uniform speed of the car (in m/s). 2 marks
OR
Find the total time taken by the car to reach the foot of the building
from the starting point.
