ONE-TIME REQUIREMENTS FOR

CASAC APPLICANTS
AND RENEWAL
The following trainings are mandatory one-time requirements that must be completed by
applicants pursuing the CASAC and individuals renewing their CASAC credential. For
information about credentialing requirements, please contact the Credentialing Unit at
credentialing@oasas.ny.gov.

For Applicants and Renewal

□ Person Centered Care (1 hour)


□ Cannabis Use Disorder Diagnostic Criteria and Assessment (1 hour)
□ Opioid Overdose Prevention Basics (1 hour)

The three above trainings are provided by Partnership to End Addiction. Please
reach out to kambrose@toendaddiction.org for any technical issues.

□ NYS Mandated Reporter Training (2 hours)


The above training is provided by NYS Office of Children and Family Services.
Please reach out to MRCustomerService@hslcnys.org for any technical issues.
This training was updated on 11/1/22. To satisfy this requirement, the training
certificate must be dated 11/1/22 or after.
□ Harm Reduction Is Part of the Treatment Continuum (1.5 hour)
□ Monitoring for Suicide Risk in Treatment Settings (1 hour)
□ Ethics for Addictions Professionals (15 hours for new applicants, 6 hours for
renewal) NOTE: Must include the 1 hour training on Learning entitled
“Professional Boundaries and Reporting Requirements.”
The three above training requirements are provided by OASAS through
Learning Thursdays. A certificate can be obtained through the OASAS
answerkey portal by taking a test for each training completed. Please reach

□ Supporting Recovery with Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT) (Free 2.5 hours)
The above training is provided by HealtheKnowledge. Please reach out to

□ Cultural Humility (15 hours)
The trainings accessed using the above link are provided by OASAS through
Learning Thursdays (using the “Cultural Competency” filter). A certificate can
be obtained through the OASAS answerkey portal by taking a test for each
training completed. Please reach out to LearningThurs@oasas.ny.gov for any
technical issues.
