Course Objectives: The objectives of this course are-

• To introduce the students about basic concepts of Crime and Principles of Penal Laws.

• To acquaint the students with the knowledge of Criminal Justice system in the context of changing circumstances.

• To enable the students to critically analyze the legislative developments and judicial pronouncements.

Pre-requisites: The student should have understood the basic legal concepts through legal theory or Jurisprudence.

Insanity, Intoxication, consent, Good faith, Private Defence
Module III Specific Offences 30
Abetment, Criminal Conspiracy and Offences affecting the Human body ;Sexual Offences, Offences relating to marriage,
Cruelty by husband or relatives of husband.

Module IV Offences against Property 20


Theft, Extortion, Robbery and Dacoity, Criminal Misappropriation and Criminal Breach of Trust, Stolen Property,
Cheating, Mischief, Criminal Trespass, Forgery.

Module V Defamation and Other Offences and Attempts 10


Defamation and Exceptions, Criminal Intimidation, Attempts.

Course Learning Outcomes: After the successful completion of Course Curriculum, a student should be able to:
• Define and explain the main components of Offences.
• Demonstrate and apply those components to actual criminal cases.
• Distinguish the various concepts and offences.
• Explain and contrast judicial pronouncements on the merits of case.

Pedagogy for Course Delivery:


• E- Content of every topic will be made available to students before lecture session.
• For course delivery we use Lecture & discussion-based applications to the students in order to make them aware about the subject.
• Case Studies are preferred so that they can raise their different issues with regard to the respective laws.
• Project in the form of Content/ Case study is assigned to each student individually.
• PSD activities (in Group) are assigned for self work, field work and Practical training.
