1. Have you every failed at something so miserably that the thought attempting to do it again was
the last thing you wanted to do?
2. If your answer is yes, then you are "not a robot". Unlike robots, we human beings have feelings,
emotions, and dreams. We are all meant to grow and stretch despite our circumstances and our
limitations. Flourishing and trying to make our dreams come true when you fail despite all of
your hard work? Do you stay down and accept the defeat or do you get up again and again until
you are satisfied? If you have a tendency to persevere and keep going then you have what experts
call, grit.
3. Falling down or failing is one of the most agonising, embarrassing, and scariest human
experiences. But it is also one of the most educational. empowering, and essential parts of living
a successful and fulfilling life. Did you know that perseverance is one of the seven qualities that
have been described as the keys to personal success and betterment in society? The other six are:
curiosity. gratitude. optimism, self-control social intelligence, and zest. Thomas Edison is a
model for grit for trying 1000 plus times to invent the light bulb. If you are reading this with the
lights on in your room, you know well he succeeded. When asked why he kept going despite his
hundreds of failures, he merely stated that what he had were not failures. They were hundreds of
ways not to create a light bulb. This statement not only revealed his grit but also his optimism for
looking at the bright side.
4. Grit can be learned to help become more successful. One of the techniques that helps is
mindfulness. Mindfulness is a practice that helps the individual stay in the moment by bringing
awareness of his/her experience without judgment with this practice of mindfulness, individuals
have the ability to stop the self- sabotaging downward spiral of hopelessness, despair and
frustration.
5. What did you do to overcome the negative and self-sabotaging feelings of failure? Reflect on
what you did, and try to use those same powerful resources to help you today.

1. E-learning is the process of acquiring knowledge through electronic technologies and
resources. A rise in the number of internet users has increased the market demand for
sophisticated online learning courses. According to the Office for National Statistics, nearly all
adults in the age group of 10 to 44 years in the UK were recent internet users (99%) in 2019.
The availability of enhanced network connectivity coupled with the convenience offered by on-
demand courses, will drive the market size.

2. According to the World Economic Forum, around 1.2 billion children are out of classrooms
with schools shut down globally due to COVID-19 pandemic. Electronic Learning Management
Systems such as Google Classroom is helping classes to connect distantly. communicate
efficiently and stay organized. Large scale national efforts to leverage technology to the market
players in support of distance education, remote, and online learning during the covid-19
pandemic is emerging and evolving rapidly.
3. The virtual classroom technology in the e-learning market is expected to grow at a CAGR
(Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 11% during the forecast timespan. A virtual classroom is a

digital environment that enables live interaction between a tutor and a learner. Videos
conferencing and online white- board for real-time collaboration are the most common tools used
in a digital teaching space. Synchronous and collaborative virtual classes allow active
participation of students, reacting an environment similar to a physical classroom.
4. The technique is gaining traction with an increasing number of corporate and academic sectors
deploying it for enhanced training sessions. Multilateral organizations and world bodies, such as
WHO and G 20, are also deploying e- learning modes to teach healthcare professionals.
5. Content providers segment accounted for around 60% e-learning market share in 2019 E-
learning providers share content on a varied range of topics by collaborating with domain experts
that help them to develop the learning content. They focus on offering specific and customized
content as per the end- user requirements.

1. Read the following passage carefully: (10)
1. Srinivasa Ramanujan was one of the greatest Mathematical genius of the world. Born in a poor Brahmin
family, he gave no indication of his hidden talent. He was born at Erode in Coimbatore in 1887. His father
was an accountant to a cloth merchant who had to maintain a large family on a small income. Srinivasa was
granted half exemption of fees when he stood first in the Primary School Examination in the whole of Tanjore
District.
2. From his childhood Ramanujan was of a quiet and dreamy temperament. He had answer to all sums that
puzzled his classmates and seniors. Figures did not worry him, no calculation was too difficult for him. Things
which were dark and muddled to his classmates were as clear as daylight to him. He always helped them with
generosity which was the most endearing feature of his character all through his career.
3. When he was in second class his curiosity upon the subject of the "Highest Truth" in Mathematics was
roused. Later on, when he moved into the Third Standard, he asked for problems of Mathematics of a higher
nature. While in Fourth Standard, he could solve the most difficult problems of Trigonometry. He obtained
Ewler's Theorems and proved them. He followed Carr's Synopsis of Pure Mathematics. He solved all the
problems without any other book to aid him. To him each solution was a triumph which encouraged him to a
fresh endeavour.
4. Ramanujan won the Subramanyam Scholarship usually awarded for proficiency in English as well as
Mathematics. But the passion for Mathematics gained on him, he neglected all other subjects so much that he
failed to gain a promotion to a higher class, thereby losing his scholarship. This was a great calamity of which
he had never dreamt. He had no money, no means of earning, no books, no influence. No help came to him
from outside. He was now eighteen without any definite plan. He joined Pachaiyappa's
College Madras (Now in Chennai) but had to return home due to illness.

1. The increasing traffic congestion every year is causing increased air pollution, wastage of time, a reduction
in productivity and diverse respiratory diseases. Moreover, the cost of solving or reducing traffic congestion
is enormous. However, neglecting the traffic jam problem would increase social problems among citizens.
2. The number of vehicles has increased considerably in the city in the past five years. Due to this increase,
the city roads witness frequent traffic congestion, but above all, the vehicles emitting pollutants are affecting
the environment adversely.
3. The capital's vehicular population saw an addition of more than five lakh vehicles last year, registering an
increase of over 4%, according to the Delhi Économic Survey 2020-21.
