Basic Electronics 2024autosaved
a branch of physics
and technology that
deals with the
ELECTRONICS emission, behavior,
and effects of
electrons and with
electronic devices.
Anelectronic
component is any
basic discrete device
ELECTRONIC or physical entity in
COMPONENTS an electronic system
used to affect
electrons or their
associated fields.

INTEGRATED
COMPONENTS
DISCRETE
COMPONENTS
Refer to a single component in an
electrical circuit with one dominant
function.
RESISTORS
FIXED RESISTORS
POTENTIOMETER
is a three-terminal
resistor with a sliding or
rotating contact that forms
an adjustable voltage
divider. If only two terminals
are used, one end and the
wiper, it acts as a variable
resistor or rheostat.
VARIABLE RESISTORS
TRIMMER
A trimpot or trimmer is a
small potentiometer which is
used for adjustment, tuning
and calibration in circuits.
When they are used as a
variable resistance (wired as
a rheostat) they are called
preset resistors.
VARIABLE RESISTORS
THERMISTORS
A thermistor is a resistance
thermometer, or a resistor
whose resistance is dependent
on temperature. The term is a PTC Positive Temperature Coefficient
combination of “thermal” and NTC Negative Temperature Coefficient
“resistor”

CAPACITORS
Capacitance is
measured in micro Farad
ELECTROLYTIC
POLARIZED CAPACITOR
CERAMIC
NON-POLARIZED CAPACITOR
TRANSISTORS
It regulates the
currents in a circuit
and also served as gate
or switch of electronic
signal.
Bipolar Junction
Transistor
INDUCTORS
Inductance is
measured in Henry
DIODE
is the two
terminal(namely anode and
cathode) two layer(P-N)
device which is used in most
of the power electronics
circuits
Light Emitting Diode (LED) Colors and Voltage
ANALOG IC
DIGITAL IC
MICROPROCESSOR
555 TIMER
A 9V battery is ideal in a
device that draws very
little power under normal
circumstances but needs a
quick burst of energy at a
moment's notice.
MULTI METER TESTER
ANALOG MULTI
METER TESTER
A multimeter that is also
known as a multitester or
VOM, is a standard electronic
measuring instrument for
technicians and electricians
in the electrical and
electronic industries used to
measure various electrical DIGITAL MULTI
parameters such as voltage, METER TESTER
current, and resistance.
PCB PRINTED CIRCUIT
BOARD
an electronic circuit
consisting of thin strips of a
conducting material such as
copper, which have been
etched from a layer fixed to
a flat insulating sheet
called a printed circuit
board, and to which
integrated circuits and
other components are
attached.
BREAD BOARD
also known
as solder sucker is a small
mechanical device which
sucks the liquid/molten
solder from the PCB
where the electronic
components are mounted.
SOLDERING WIRE
basically a
metal wire with a "low"
melting point (LEAD and
TIN), low enough to be
melted with
a soldering iron with
conductive substance and
electrically
connect electronic
components together.
SOLDERING STAND
composed of a heavy-
duty metal base and a
reinforced spring is used
to keep the hot soldering
away from you and the
work area.
SOLDER FUME
EXTRACTOR
used primarily to
extract the fumes
generated during hand
soldering.
is a plier-like spring-
tensioned metal clip
with elongated,
serrated jaws that is
used for creating a
temporary electrical
connection.
JUMPER WIRES
Jumper wires are simply
wires that have connector
pins at each end, allowing
them to be used to
connect two points to
each other without
soldering. Jumper wires
are typically used with
breadboards and other
prototyping tools in order
to make it easy to change
a circuit as needed.
