LA TOMATINA

La Tomatina in Spain is probably the world's biggest food fight! Every year,
on the last Wednesday in August, people come to the little town of Buñol to throw
tomatoes at each other! La Tomatina festival is about fifty years old. The week
before La Tomatina is a week of celebration, with live bands, firework displays, food
and lots of fun!
On the day of La Tomatina, big lorries full of tomatoes arrive at the town, ready
for the big fight! There are no winners in this fight - you just pick up a ripe tomato
and throw it at anyone you like! The fight lasts for two hours, from eleven o'clock to
one o'clock, and attracts a lot of people, mostly boys and girls. After the tomato
fight, the streets look like red rivers! You can stay and have a swim in the tomato
juice, if you like! La Tomatina is a fun festival for people of all ages. Next time you
