Job Purpose/Summary

The Financial Accountant is responsible for the accounting and reporting of various transactions
and activities of the PSC section of Addax Petroleum Cameroon Company including Production
Sharing Contract (PSC) obligations, treasury, revenue accounting and general ledger accounting
activities.

Key Accountabilities/Result Area

Principal deliverables and accountabilities include:

PSC Obligations
• Prepare and submit all Entitlements and Cost Recovery Reports to the partners.
• Raise the cash calls and send to the partners.
• Ensure that other PSC obligations are fulfilled (e.g. payment of flat fees, annual surface rental fees,
signature bonus, production bonus, training budget, chart of accounts, organization of the accounting
system, report of the property used for the operations, physical verification of fixed assets, stock count
report, abandonment plan and the opening of an escrow bank account.
• Maintain and develop Addax relations with Joint Venture partners and co-ordinate Joint Venture Audits.
Revenue accounting:
• Prepare and record the revenue entries - including Government share calculations
• Prepare and record the volumes produced (gross, net) and lifted with the prices.
• Determine and record the deferred tax, ARO and the depletion (DDA).
• Coordinate and record the corporate tax computation
Treasury activities:
• Monitor the petty cash disbursement, reimbursement and replenishment
General ledger accounting activities:
• Provide financial information to Auditors & Tax Consultants for the preparation of OHADA financial
statements.
• Ensure taxes are processed and paid on time - Interface with Government officials on tax issues.
• Ensure the accurate accounting records on a project-by-project basis, develop an awareness of current
operating issues and identify potential areas of concern for line management review.
• Code the APCL invoices and ensure the accounts are properly analysed.
• Perform all required balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Review and book all the monthly payroll, bank, petty cash entries and other miscellaneous entries.
• Maintain the integrity of the OHADA books.
• Raise the recharge invoices and ensure the follow up until their payment.
• Plan and coordinate the annual inventories of the stocks and fixed assets.
• Develop appropriate control procedures to ensure that company assets are safeguarded.
HSSE Accountabilities:
• Have Awareness on the HSSE MS and related documents, fully participate in all HSSE intervention
schemes (APIPP, Incident reporting, site visits) and awareness sessions (HSSE Meetings, events and
trainings) to maintain and improve Organizational HSSE culture.
• Understand the emergency procedure and the related requirements.
• Lead as a role model to improve HSSE engagement within direct team, section, and department.

The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned.

Interface and Dimensions

Internal Interface
• The incumbent is part of a Finance & IT Team of 29 staffs. & Other Department Staff.

External Interfaces
• Interacts with Headquarter and others Addax companies
• The JV partners (SNH)
• The Government authorities (MINMIDT, Finance Ministry, DGE)
• The auditors, consultants

Key Challenges

• Ensure the ECRR are processed and submitted on time.


• Ensure the PSC obligations are fulfilled per the contractual terms.
• Ensure all financials data in his/her field are processed on time.
• Ensure accounts are analyzed on time.
• Ensure timely payment of taxes.
• Ensure the accuracy of the entries booked to the general ledger.

Experience / Competence & Requirements

• B.Sc. in Accounting and/or Finance. ACCA or similar chartered accounting qualification would be a
distinct advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Accountant with strong knowledge of financial accounting
knowledge.
• Extensive knowledge of and experience with SYSOHADA Accounting practice and knowledge of IFRS
(Internation Financial Reporting Standards).
• Knowledge of local tax rules and requirements.
• Strong financial accounting skills.
• Understanding of upstream joint venture arrangements.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills combined with an ability to meet deadlines on tight
schedules.
• Strong interpersonal skills, which are required to develop the many and varied interfaces and to
engender the trust, credibility and respect that are essential for the successful performance of the job.
• Ability to work under own initiative as well as being a proven team player.
• Must be able to communicate with wide audience (financial & technical).
• Unwavering honesty and integrity.
• Significant experience with MS-Word, Excel, Outlook, Proactis and SunSysytems or similar ERPs.
• Oral and written fluency in English is required. Proficiency in French would be advantageous.
