GUIDELINES & MECHANICS OF THE 17th PRIVATE SCHOOLS DAY

Literary, Musical and Dance Contest

GUIDELINES:

1. All contestants should be officially enrolled learners of the school within


the district they represent.
2. There will be an elimination per district of the different events to be
contested in the Division LITMUSDA. Winning contestants will represent
the district in the LITMUS contest during the OPSCSI 16th Private Schools
Day at Robinsons Place Naga.
3. There should be one entry per district.
4. Mechanics for each event should be strictly followed.
5. Representative per district shall draw lots for their number that will be
used by all their contestants in all events throughout the competition.
6. All participants in the LITMUSDA shall be registered and shall wear the
OPSCSI ID during the competition.
7. Each school shall submit to the LITMUSDA Coordinator the for the
accompaniment of their entries and are responsible to test 30 minutes
before the start of the competition. Flash drives must be properly
labeled according to Entry Number, Event, and Song/Music Number.
Failure to submit flash drives on time would mean 1 point deduction
from the total score of the contestant.
8. Participants can use the assigned for preparation and change of
costumes.

9. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable.

LITMUSDA EVENTS:
1. POEM RECITATION
Mechanics:
 Contestant may be a boy or a girl
 Preparation of props, entrance, delivery and exit must be 5 minutes
only.
 Contest piece is free choice, must be in English and is appropriate to
the age
 Costume and Props must be appropriate to the piece.

 1 point deduction from the total score for every exceeding minute
 Violations of any of the mechanics will be subject for a 1-point
deduction from the total score

Criteria:

 Mastery 40%
 Vocal projection/style 20%
 Stage Performance
and Stage Presence 20%
 Facial Expression
and Body Gestures 20 %
TOTAL 100%

2. CHORAL RECITATION
Mechanics:
 Contest piece is free choice and material must be suited to the
children.
 Piece must be in English
 Attire must be suited to the piece
 No props
 10-15 members
 Delivery must be 5 minutes including preparation, entrance and exit
 1-point deduction for every exceeding minute
 Violations of any of the mechanics will be subject for a 1-point
deduction from the total score.

Criteria:
 Mastery 25%
 Choreography and stage deportment 25%
 Delivery 20%
 Costume 10%
 Voice quality and Dynamics 20%
TOTAL 100%

3. VOCAL SOLO
Mechanics:
 Contestant may be a boy and a girl
 Piece must be appropriate to the age
 Songs is either in English or Filipino
 Accompaniment must be FREE CHOICE.
 Attire must be suited to the piece
 Preparation, entrance, delivery and exit must be 5 minutes.
 Violations of any of the mechanics will be subject for a 1-point
deduction from the total score.

Criteria:
 Vocal technique 30%
 Musicianship 30%
 Performance 30%
 Stage Discipline 10%
TOTAL 100%

4. COLORING
(Final Round : USI PILI)
Mechanics:
 Each contestant will be given coloring materials
 Crayons will be 8 colors only
 Theme will be given on the day/venue of the contest
 60 minutes time allotment will be given including the orientation
 Violations of any of the mechanics will be subject for a 1-point
deduction from the total score.

Criteria:
 Color scheme 30%
 Visual impact 20%
 Accuracy to actual picture 30%
 Creativity 10%
 Neatness 10%
TOTAL 100%

5. MODERN DANCE

 There should be 6-12 members for each group.


 Members may be composed of all males, all females or mixed.
 Costumes and Props must be appropriate to the dance.
 Time limit is 3-5 minutes including preparation, entrance, delivery and
exit.
 One-point deduction will be made from the total score for every minute
in excess.
 The Dance Presentation must be wholesome and should not include
“degrading “or sensual movements.
 Violations of any of the mechanics will be subject for a 1-point
deduction from the total score.

Criteria:
 Mastery (Precision, Coordination
in the execution of movement) 40%
 Choreography (Variety and Level
of difficulty in the steps and formation) 40%
 Projection and Audience Impact 10%
 Costume 10%

TOTAL 100%

6. STORY TELLING
Mechanics:
 Contestant may be a boy or a girl
 Preparation of props, entrance, delivery and exit must be 5 minutes
only.
 Contest piece is free choice, must be in English and is appropriate to
the age
 Costume and Props must be appropriate to the piece.
 1 point deduction from the total score for every exceeding minute
 Violations of any of the mechanics will be subject for a 1-point
deduction from the total score

 Vocal projection/style 20%
 Stage Performance
and Stage Presence 20%
 Facial Expression
