Ask learners : What are the ways of getting
the meaning of unfamiliar words?
- A basic strategy for getting the meaning of
unfamiliar words is to search for context clues.
- Use word parts (suffixes and prefixes).

Do the Game “Treasure Words”

Teacher prepares words with prefixes. Let pupils look


for the words found in the room and what prefix is
used in the word then give its meaning.

reread - an act of reading something again


immature - not fully developed
mislead - cause (someone) to have a wrong idea or
impression about something or someone.
preview- an inspection or viewing of something before
it is bought or becomes generally known and available.

Our lesson for today is Inferring the meaning of words


using suffixes.

Suffixes, sometimes called postfixes, are word


endings that add a certain meaning to the word.

in the parenthesis.

I was feeling joy (adjective) and overflowing

Posible(adverb), it was because of the simple
(noun) and the kind(noun) of my neighborhood.
