Letter On Village Fair
Letter On Village Fair
My dear Ratan,
I haven’t heard from you for a long time. Hope you are well by the grace God. I’m writing this letter to tell you
about my visit to a village fair.
Last Sunday I went to a fair with my parents. It was held in a big ground beside the Church at Krishnanagar, Nadia .
The fair was held on the occasion of Christmas Day on the eve of 25th December.
A large crowd of men, women and children was moving around. Many stalls were set up there. They were
arranged in rows. The stalls were selling dolls, toys, pots and different idols of Jesus and Mother Mary etc. A magician
ran a small booth. The children gathered round a merry-go-round. Those who were riding on it were shouting in
excitement. I also had a ride on the round. There was a circus party at the other corner of the fair. We had a lot of
fun in the fair.
No more today. More when we meet. With love to you and regards to your parents.

Q. Write a letter to your father asking for some money to buy books.
My dear Father,
Hope this will find you in hale and hearty. I’m quite fine here. I’m writing this letter for an urgent reason.
The result of our Half Yearly Examination has been out. You will be glad to know that I’ve done a lot of progress in
all the subjects than the 1st Term examination. I’ve scored 80% marks in the aggregate and stood 4th in order of
merit. Yet I’m not satisfied with my result. I would have obtained more marks in English and Math if I had two
reference books on these subjects. My teachers also suggested me to buy two books. These are not available even in
our school library. That’s why I have no other way than to purchase them. Under this circumstance I barely need Rs
1200/- So, please send me the money by money order as soon as possible. You may also pay through Whatsapp of
our hostel-in-charge.

Q. Write a letter to your friend about annual book fair in your school.
I haven’t heard from you for a long time. Are you very busy with your preparation for the ensuing Annual
Examination? Well, it’s knocking at the door for both of us. But we should take a break for a little, otherwise we’ll be
exhausted. That’s why I’m going to give you a short description of the book fair held in our school.
You know every year in the month of December a book fair is held in our school premises. Our school gate and the
whole premises were decorated beautifully. Hundreds of stalls were set up in the covered ground. The stalls stood
in rows. They were decorated with books. They were open to the visitors. Book lovers from different places crowded
here to see, touch, browse or buy the books of their choice. In the evening the fairground turned to a fairy land.
There was also a centre stage on which different cultural programmes were held. I invite you to come once and have
fun with me.
Q. Write a letter to your friend telling him about the annual sports day in your school.
My dear Raja,
I received your letter yesterday. You wanted to know about the annual sports day of our school. Now, I am telling
you about it.
The Annual Sports of our school came off on the 8th instant. You will be glad to know that I won four prizes –two
first prizes and two-second prizes in the sports, and thus I became the champion. The sports were held on the school
grounds which were nicely decorated. The function began at 10 am, with the march of the competitors. There was a
large gathering of spectators. The function was presided over by the respected Swami Purnamayanandaji Maharaj.
The main items of sports were the high jump, long jump, pole volt, hammer throw, discus throw, javelin throw,
races, etc. I got first prizes in the high jump and long jump and second prizes in 200 meters sprint and javelin throw.
After the sports, our Secretary Maharaj gave away the prizes. He also delivered a short lecture. It was an eventful
day to me. I returned home cheerfully with the prizes to show them to my parents and they hugged me endearingly
as they saw me returning victorious.
No more today, I am well. How are you all? With love to you and regards to your parents.
Yours ever,
