Lesson Plan in Mathematics 7

I. CURRICULUM CONTENT, STANDARDS, AND LESSON COMPETENCIES

Content Standard The learner should have knowledge and understanding of the solution of a simple equations.

Performance Standard By the end of the lesson, the learners can solve simple equations.

Learning Objective/s: At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
1.Learn the definition of algebraic expressions, terms, coefficients, constant and variables;
2.Identify algebraic expressions and;
3.Understanding the basics and apply into the real world.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Algebraic Expression
Reference: Q4_LE_Mathematics-7_Lesson-1_Week-1.pdf
Learning Materials: Power Point Presentation, Laptop, Tv, Chalk
Values Integration: Team works and collaboration.
III. Procedures Preliminaries
Preparatory Activities 1.Prayer
2.Greetings
3.Checking Attendance
4. Recall of Classroom Rules and Procedures

Developmental Activities Review

The following questions or tasks will be answered by the students:

Mean,
Median and Mode,
right?”
Mean,
Median and Mode,
right?”
Mean,
Median and Mode,
right?”
1. How does your face look when someone asks you to show a happy expression?
2. What if someone asked you to give them an algebraic expressions – what would you do?

Simple Activity – 4 Pics 1

Motivation

Word.
Activity 1:
Suppose values are assigned to letters of alphabet:
Example:
A = 1, B = 2, C = 3, D = 4, E = 5, F = 6, up to Z = 26

Let us find the value of the word LOVE.

To find the value of the word “LOVE” using the given numerical assignments for each
letter, we simply sum the values of each letter:
L = 12 O = 15 V = 22 E = 5
Adding these values together:
L + O + V + E = 12 + 15 + 22 + 5 = 52

What can you say about

our activity?
2. What values and
methods did you
employ to come up with
your answers?
1. What are your findings and experiences with the activities?
2. Do you share same values with your classmates?

Algebraic Expression Variables
1. Explicitation 2
A variable is a symbol used to denote an
8 x − 2 x +3
uncertain value. Variables can be represented
by symbols such as x, y, a, `Ί, etc.

A symbol that has exactly one number or

fixed value in its replacement set is called a constant. Any number, including 7, 4, and
11, is a constant. Pi, often known as ℼ, is a constant that has a value of about 3. 14.

Examine the following expression: 4x2 + 3y + 2. Two is a constant number. The variables are
represented by the letters x and y. In an algebraic expression, each individual part is referred to
as a term, together with the + and - marks.

The numerical factor of a term is called its numerical coefficient and the variable factor of a
term is called the literal coefficient. In the term 3x2, 3 is called the numerical coefficient and
x is called the literal coefficient. While the coefficient of 3 is x2.

Anything that involves a finite number or an indicated fundamental operation (addition,

subtraction, multiplication, division, evolution or radicals, involution or exponents) in algebra
can be referred to as an Algebraic Expression.

Examples of Algebraic Expressions:

x ² √3
7, 2x, -3y + 4, 4x – 3yz, ❑√ 4 b2 , + (xy – 1), ℼr²

Application Activity: Test Yourself!

Direction: For each expression, identify the variable(s) , constant term, coefficient(s), and
term(s) in a ½ sheet of paper.

IV. Evaluation
Direction: Get ½ crosswise and answer the following.

Create an algebraic expression with the following numbers. You can use any letter to represent the variables.

1. -5, 4,-3

2. 2, -6, 7

3. 8,-7,-1

4. -3,-4,- 6

5. x,
y, -9
V. Assignment
Research about expressions that are not polynomials.
