1. All questions are compulsory.
2. Use proper geometric instruments where required.
3. Write the construction steps wherever necessary.
4. Diagrams must be accurate and neat.

1.A. Four alternative answers are given for every sub-question, Select the correct
alternative and write the alphabet of that answer: 4

(1) If a, b, c are sides of a triangle and a² + b² = c², name the type of triangle:
(A) Obtuse angled triangle (B) Acute angled triangle
(C) Right angled triangle (D) Equilateral triangle
(2) Chords AB and CD of a circle intersect inside the circle at point E. If AE 4, EB 10, CE 8, then find ED:
(A) 7 (B) 5
(C) 8 (D) 9
(3) Two circles of radii 5.5 cm and 3.3 cm respectively touch each other Externally. What is the distance
between their centres?
(A) 4.4 cm (B) 8.8 cm
(C) 2.2 cm (D) 8.8 or 2.2 cm
(4) The number of tangents that can be drawn to a circle at a point on the circle is
(A) 3 (B) 2
(C) 1 (D) 0

B. Solve the following sub-questions: 4

A(∆ABC) 16
(1) If ∆ABC ̴ ∆PQR and A(∆PQR) = 25 , then find AB: PQ. 5:4

(2) In ∆RST, ∠S = 90°, ∠T = 30°, RT = 12cm then find RS.

(3) If radius of a circle is 5 cm, then find the length of longest chord of a circle.

(4) Identify whether the following is Pythagorean triplets: (3,5,4).

2.A. Complete the following activities (any two): 4

(1) If ∆ABC ̴ ∆PQR, and AB: PQ = 2:3, then fill in the blanks.
A(∆ABC) 𝐴𝐵2 22
= = =
A(∆ ……..) 32

(2) For finding AB and BC with the help of information given in figure,
complete following activity.
AB = BC .......... (Given)
∴ ∠BAC =
1
∴ AB = BC = x AC
1
= x √8
1
= x
√2
=2
(3) In the given figure, ∠ L = 35°, find:
(i) m (arc MN)
(ii) m (arc MLN)
Solution:
1
(i) ∠L = 2 m (arc MN) ......... (By inscribed angle theorem)
1
∴ = 2 m (arc MN)
∴ 2 x 35 = m (arc MN)
∴ m (arc MN) =
(ii) m (are MLN) = - m (arc MN) ......... [Definition of measure of arc]
= 360° - 70°
∴ m (arc MLN) =
(B) Solve the following sub-questions (Any four): 8

(1) In trapezium ABCD, side AB || side PQ || side DC.

AP = 15, PD = 12, QC = 14, find BQ.
(2) Find the length of the diagonal of a rectangle whose length is 35 cm and breadth are 12 cm.

(3) ▢MRPN is cyclic, ∠ R = (5x – 13)°, ∠ N = (4x + 4)°. Find measures of ∠ R and ∠ N.

(4) Draw a circle with radius 3.4 cm. Draw a chord MN of length 5.7 cm in it. Construct tangents at point M
and N to the circle.
(5) In the given figure points G, D, E, F are points of a circle with centre C,
∠ECF = 70°, m (arc DGF) = 200°.
Find: (i) m (arc DE)
(ii) m (arc DEF).
Solution:

3.A. Complete the following activities (any one): 3

(1) In ∆PQR seg PM is a median. Angle bisectors of ∠PMQ and ∠PMR intersect side PQ and side PR in points
X and Y respectively. Prove that XY || QR.
Complete the proof by filling in the boxes.
In △PMQ, ray MX is bisector of ∠PMQ.
𝑀𝑃
∴ MQ= .......... (I) [Theorem of angle bisector.]

Similarly, in △PMR, ray MY is bisector of ∠PMR.

MP
∴ MR= .......... (II) [Theorem of angle bisector.]
MP MP
But MQ=MR .......... (III) [As M is the midpoint QR] Hence MQ = MR.
𝑃𝑋
∴ = .......... [From (I), (II) and (III)]
𝑌𝑅

∴ XY || QR .......... [Converse of basic proportionality theorem.]

(2) In the given figure. Find RP and PS using the
information given in ∆PSR.
In ∆PSR, RP = 12 ... (1)
∠S= 90∘, ∠P = 30∘, ∴ ∠R = 60∘
PS = RP
By 30∘ − 60∘ − 90∘ theorem,
√3
RS = RP = ×12
2

= 6√3 ... (2)

6= RP Hence, RP = 12 units and PS = 6√3
6 × 2 = RP
(B) Solve the following sub-questions (any two): 6
(1) In the given figure, ∠QPR = 90°,
seg PM ⊥ seg QR and Q–M–R,
PM = 10, QM = 8, find QR.
Solution:

(2) Draw a circle with radius 3.6 cm. Draw a tangent to the circle at any point on it without using the centre.

(3) Prove that, any rectangle is a cyclic quadrilateral.

WKT, If a pair of opposite angles of a quadrilateral is

supplementary, then the quadrilateral is cyclic
∴ ▢ABCD is a cyclic quadrilateral
….(converse of cyclic quadrilateral Thm).
So, Any rectangle is a cyclic quadrilateral.
(4) ∆ABC ~ ∆LMN. In ∆ABC, AB = 5.5 cm, BC = 6 cm, CA = 4.5 cm. Construct ∆ABC and ∆LMN
