Final Project Report Guidelines

Dates of Final Evaluation: (Venue: Conference Room; Deptt. of Civil Engg.)

May 20, Tuesday, 2025 - Group 1–6, Starting 9 A.M. in the morning

May 21, Wednesday, 2025 - Group 7-13, Starting 9 A.M. in the morning

May 22, Thursday, 2025 - Group 14–20, Starting 9 A.M. in the morning

General Instructions

• All reports must be neatly typed and professionally formatted. Typinig format: 12 font size,
1.5 line spacing, Times New Roman, Justify. Include a Cover Page containing the following:
Project title, Names of all members of the Group and their enrollment numbers, Institute logo,
and the following information below the logo: Name of Department followed by Name of
Institute followed by date: May 2025. All reports shall be spiral bound with numbered pages and
a transparent cover at the top.
• Following margins shall be used in all pages of the report: Margin at top: 0.6”; Left margin: 0.5”;
Right margin: 0.3”, Bottom margin: 0.3”.
• Report shall be prepared in good quality A4 size unruled paper.
• Each member of every Group shall carry a full copy of the report with him / her. One common
report to be used by all members of a Group will be unacceptable.
• Each report must be an original work. Any instance of copy-paste across groups will result in
a score of ZERO.
• Presentation time is strictly 15 minutes. Focus on design rationale and results. Avoid
unnecessary content.

Mandatory Report Format (Neatly Typed & Spiral Bound)

1. Location and Layout Map

• Site location (Google Map integration or site sketch)

• Proposed site plan with zoning (residential, amenities, utilities)
2. Design Components (Include design calculations and supporting data)

(i) Geospatial Engineering

• Topographic survey interpretation

• Site selection rationale
• GIS-based zoning/layout

(ii) Environmental Engineering

• Sewerage and drainage layout

• Solid waste management system
• Rainwater harvesting plan
• Green space/landscape planning

(iii) Hydraulics

• Water supply layout and demand estimation

• Stormwater drainage network
• Overhead and underground tanks

(iv) Structural Engineering

• Layout and framing plan / elevation of residential tower.

• Other structures (UG sump, tanks, STP, boundary wall, podiums).
• Detailed structural modeling.
• Design inputs:
o Structural System: Monolithic RCC frames (columns, beams, slabs, RCC walls)
o Codes: IS 456:2000, IS 875:1987, IS 1893:2016, IS 13920:2016, IS 4326:1993, IS
16700:2023
• Design for:
o Dead Load (Self-weight, finishes, walls, etc.)
o Live Load (as per IS:875 Part 2)
o Earthquake Load (IS 1893)
o Wind Load (IS 875 Part 3 – include gust factor calculations)
o Load combinations for limit state design (SLS and ULS)
o Fire and durability considerations
o SLS and ULS. Key features of SLS and ULS building models to be discussed..

• SP:34 and IS 13920:2016 compliant typical detailing of slabs, beams, columns, walls and
foundations
• Typical element detailing shall be shown in both plan and in elevation
• Summary of slab, beam, column and wall detailing to be presented in a tabular format.

4. Additional Sections

• Design Considerations (Seismic zoning, soil data, material grades)

• IS Codes Used (List with publication year)

• References/Bibliography (Books, papers, design handbooks)

Presentation Guidelines
