THE WESTLIFE STORY

Good morning to teacher and all my friends .Today, Im going to tell the story about Westlife from the beginning until their final tour. The story begins a not a long time ago in a town named Sligo in the West Coast of Ireland. Three guys named Kian Egan, Mark Feehily and Shane Filan had performed in the school musical Grease together, and after their success on stage,they with 3 other guys decided to form a band, called 6 as 1, and later change their name to IOYOU. The group released a single named "Together Girl Forever" in Ireland, and after limited success, Shane's mother, Mae, contacted the manager of Boyzone, Louis Walsh, to try and persuade him to take a look at the guys and to possibly sign them up. Although Louis was impressed he felt he didn't have the time to manage yet another band. But...luckily for them... he contacted Ronan Keating who are a member of Boyzone, who agreed to co-manage the new band with Louis. And so 'Rolo Management' was formed. After meeting the band 3 members (Derek, Graham and Michael) being asked to leave and auditions were then held in Dublin to find two new members for the group. Then Nicky Byrne and Bryan McFadden were eventually chosen. The group then named as Westside and Simon Cowell was signed for their recording label and manager. After form they were choosen to supported the Backstreet Boys in Dublin, and then toured the UK and Ireland with Boyzone in November 1998. They stunned audiences on the Smash Hits Tour around the UK, winning "Best New Tour Act" at the Smash Hits Awards in November 1998.However,after several weeks they change their name to WESTLIFE because the name has already been taken by another band. Westlife then released their first ever single entitled Swear It Againin 1999 which went straight to No.1 in UK Singles Chart and becoming the biggest-selling debut single ever in Ireland. Later, the single If I Let You Go was release and it also peak No.1 In UK Singles Chart and and receive silver certification. In the same year, Westlife release another single and also their first record of the year single, it is Flying Without Wings. Westlife then release a double A-side single I Have a Dream and Seasons in the Sun and become the UK Christmas number one of 1999. After that, Westlife release their last single from the album Westlife named Fool Again and also peak No.1 In UK Singles Chart. In the same year they release their first album simpl named Westlife and get 15 Platinum in Malaysia. Westlife also remains the best-selling international album ever in Indonesia and Philippines, receiving 20 platinum certifications for over one million copies sold in Indonesia and 25 platinum certifications over a half a million units sold in the Philippines.

The album are The Most No.1 Single In An Album.The album single are "Swear It Again","If I Let You Go" , the double A-side "I Have A Dream/Season In The Sun" and "Fool Again", all of which peaked at #1 on the UK Singles Chart. With this, Westlife achieved five NO.1 singles from the same album in less than a year, a record that remains unbroken to date. In Year 2000 Westlife release the album Coast To Coast and peak No.1 in UK Albums Chart with selling more than 2 Million And the album has 5 single but only 2 of it manage to get No.1 in UK Singles Chart . The singles are My Love which also Westlifes second record of the year single. The other single are Against All Odds featuring Mariah Carey. In year 2001 Westlife release their third album entitled World Of Our Own which also peak No.1 in UK Albums Chart.The album has 4 Singles and 3 of it manage to get No.1 in UK Singles Chart. The singles are Queen Of My Heart, World Of Our Own and their biggest-selling single Uptown Girl.In year 2002 Westlife release their first Greatest Hits album and choose Malaysia to be the first country in Asia to release the album. The Album Peak No.1 in UK Albums Chart .The album 2 singles but just 1 of it get No.1 In UK Singles Chart and it is Unbreakable.In the year 2003 Westlife release their last album feature former band member Brian McFadden who decide to quit Westlife in 2004.The album has 3 single,but only 1 that peak No.1 in UK Singles Chart, it is Mandy and also their third record of the year.They all were sad and angry after Brian quit the band because said Nicky He is quitting the biggest pop-band in the world. Then Westlife decide to keep going on and be bigger and better. In the year 2004 after Brian has quit the band Westlife release a rat-pack album name Allow Us To Be Frank and have 3 single but none of it peak No.1 in UK Singles Chart. In Year 2005, Mark Feehily reveal that he is Gay and proud of it.In the same year Westlife become stronger after they release the album Face To Face in the year 2005 which peak No.1 in UK Albums Chart and have 1 No.1 Singles from 3 of it. The single are You Raise Me Up and also their fourth record of the year. Nicky Said, the single are the beginning of second chapter of Westlife. In Year 2006 Westlife release the album entitled The Love Album which peak No.1 In UK Albums Chart and The Rose are their only single and peak No.1 in UK Singles Chart And. The Rose are also Westlife finals No.1 Singles In United Kingdom. The group have accumulated 14 number-one singles in the United Kingdom, the thirdhighest in UK history, tying with Cliff Richard. The group had also broken a few records, including "Music artist with most consecutive number 1's in the UK", which consists of their first seven singles and only behind The Beatles and Elvis Presley. The Official Charts Company credited Westlife as the second biggestselling artist and biggest-selling band of the decade. The band have 14 UK number ones and 25 top ten singles. In the year 2007 Westlife release another album named Back Home which peak No.1 In UK Albums Chart but all 3 singles in that album dont make it to No.1 but the single Home peak No.3 In UK Singles Chart. In

year 2008 Westlife didnt release any album but held a big concert at Croke Park Stadium, Dublin. The next year, Westlife release Where We Are album and has 1 single but the single also doesnt make it to No.1 but peak No.2 in UK Singles Chart. In 2010 Westlife release the album entitled Gravity with single Safe which peak No.10 in UK Singles Chart. Westlife also make announcement that they maybe will release the Beautiful Tonight as a single but their recording label (SYCO) said that they wont . Then, in October 2010 Westlife announced that after one last tour they will splitting up and Greatest Hits album are their last ever albums. In 2011 Westlife the release their second greatest hits album and Lighthouse as a single which just peak No.32 in Uk Singles Chart. There are some people requesting Westlife to release the Beautiful World song as a single which could possibly peak No.1 in UK Singles Chart. Then, Westlife announced their final tour named as Farewell Tour and their last date was 23 rd June 2012 at Croke Park Stadium, Dublin.Westlife Has 45 Million Albums Sold And 14 UK No.1 Singles Making Them One Of The Artist With Most No.1 Singles In UK.
