Configure Chrome for Java Web Start (JNLP)

Part One: Configure Java


(Skip to Part Two ‘Enable Chrome download’ if you already completed the IE or Firefox configurations )

1. Using MS Windows Search, type ‘Configure Java’ to open Java Control Panel
2. In the ‘General’ tab -> select ‘Settings’

3. Ensure ‘Keep temporary files on my computer’ is checked.

4. Select ‘OK’
5. In the ‘Advanced’ tab, find ‘JNLP File/MIME Association’ and select either ‘Prompt user’ or ‘Always allow’ depending
your organizational security requirement.

OR

6. Select ‘OK’ to exit.

Java Configuration Completed.


Part Two: configure Windows file association.

1. Go to Windows Control Panel and select ‘Default Programs’

2. Select ‘Associate a file type or protocol with a program’


3. Scroll down near bottom and select ‘Choose default apps by file type’

4. Scroll to ‘jnlp JNLP File’ and ensure ‘Java™ Web Launcher’ is selected.

5. Exit this window and exit control panel.

Part Three: Enable Chrome to Download

1. Within Chrome: Open Settings -> Advanced -> Downloads

2. Ensure ‘Ask where to save each file before downloading’ is enabled


3. Close Settings and close all Chrome windows.
4. Restart Chrome, go to Oracle Federal Financial and open Oracle form.
5. Save the JNLP file to your computer (may happen automatically)
6. At the bottom left of the Chrome browser, click the ‘frmservlet.jnlp’

7. Oracle Form should open at this point.

8. End of Chrome configuration.
