Settings

Auto Verify When this option is checked the program, will perform a binary compare after the disc is burned. It will compare the files on the hard drive to the files on the newly burned disc to ensure that no errors have occurred. If errors have occurred a report will be provided. A binary compare with source files will be performed on all, except for imported files. Imported files from a previous session will NOT be verified because the source files may no longer exist. Finalize Disc Sometimes called a Closed Disc, this option locks the disc after the burning is completed so that nothing more can be written to it. This option can be used when delivering a final release or document for distribution. Note 1: This operation can take up to 5 minutes on some drives. This operation cannot be cancelled. Note 2: All audio discs are closed. Note 3: DVD+RW and DVD-RAM always appear closed, and this setting does not apply. These formats are random access, and therefore are always writable. Cache Image before Writing If writing from a network location, or including many smaller files (under 1K) in the ISO/Joliet image, or using a slower system, this setting is recommended to avoid drive under-run writing errors. For audio CDs, all audio tracks are cached prior to writing. Using caching for CDs can result in usage of up to 800MB of temporary hard drive space.
Test Write Mode The test write mode will simulate writing activity on the drive; except the laser will never be turned on. The disc will remain unwritten. DVD formats cannot be written to in test mode and will result in the disc being written to regardless of this setting. Note: If Auto Verify is enabled, during a test burn, the binary comparison will fail, and an error report will be provided, after the burning is complete. Disc At Once (DAO) If this option is selected the Disc will be burned in one single closed session. This is useful when burning a Video DVD, Audio CD, or a Master Disc. Note: If an Audio CD is burned, without using the Disc At Once option, each track will have a 2 second silent gap between them. Eject After Burn: Ejects the disc after it is burned. Bootable CD/DVD The option launches the Boot Settings Dialog, for a Data Disc. For more information please refer to the Bootable Disc Settings page. View Horizontal Sets the File Browser, and Disc Burning windows to a Horizontal view, the default is vertical. Use the Files Original Date If this option is not checked, todays date will be used for the files being burned.
Security Rights
H
Administrative rights are required to burn a CD or DVD. To give CD/DVD rights to a non-administrative user, do the following: Install - NMSAccessU
Or Setup Windows 1) Open 'Control Panel' and click on 'Administrative Tools'. 2) Double click on 'Local Security Policy'. 3) Double click on 'Security Options'. 4) Double click on 'Restrict CD-ROM access to locally logged-on users only'. 5) Click on Enabled.
Or Manually Install NMSAccessU.exe This service will provide CD/DVD access for any user under NT/XP/2000 regardless of Security Policies. VERY IMPORTANT: NMSAccess must only be used on NT4/2000/XP systems (Not Windows 98/ME/95). You must have Administrative Rights to install or remove the service. After installation, every time the machine boots, NMSAccess will start automatically as needed. INSTALLING: Download NMSAccessU.exe 1) Copy the NMSAccessU.exe to any location (system32 is preferred). 2) To install the service from the command window use the following parameters: [Installed Path]\NMSAccessU.exe -install REMOVING/UNINSTALL: 1) To stop the service and remove it from the system start-up use the following parameters: [Installed Path]\NMSAccessU.exe -remove
2) Delete the service from installed path. TESTING INSTALLATION (After install): 1) Log into the Windows NT4/2000/XP OS as a user with No Administrative Rights. 2) Run the Cheetah CD Burner or Cheetah DVD Burner. 3) If no CD/DVD drives appear in the drive list (assuming a burner exists), the service is installed incorrectly. 4) If CD/DVD drives appear in the drive list (assuming a burner exists), the service is installed correctly.

I purchased the product but have still not received a CD I purchased the product but have still not received a Registration Key. I copied a commercial DVD but it will not play in my home DVD player. I need a program will a smaller foot print. DVD Related Issues Does any Cheetah Burner software require ASPI?
What is the difference Between a Video DVD and a Data DVD? A "Data DVD" is burned as "ISO9660 / Joliet Bridged" (Windows File Name Format) and a "Video DVD" is burned as ISO9660 / UDF Bridged file format. You can view the differences after it has been burned, with a program like ISO Buster. The Joliet allows for 64 character names, and the UDF allows for 128 character names.
I burned a Video DVD, but it will not play in my home DVD Player? Try a DVD-R, and select the Video DVD option before burning. About 75% of home DVD players will play a DVD-R, 25% will play a DVD+R, and some will play both. A CD will work and play on your home DVD player as a Mini-DVD but the sound quality will be terrible. A DVD-R is highly recommended, for a clear picture and crisp sound quality. Note: Some older DVD Players may have trouble with a Burned DVD. Also try a different brand of disc it is not uncommon to get a bad batch.
My DVD has a 4.7 GB Capacity but the Cheetah DVD Burner shows a smaller amount of free space available in the Status Bar (Bottom Left) Disc manufacturers assume 1 GByte= 1000 x 1000 x 1000 bytes, but computer software normally assumes 1 GByte= 1024 x 1024 x 1024 bytes. So 4.7 (disc manufacturers) GBytes = 4.38 (computer software) GBytes. Yeah I know it's confusing...

What is the Maximum file size I can burn using the Cheetah DVD Burner? For a standard ISO9660 and Joliet specification DVD the files will need to be smaller than 4.2GB in size (Windows 4.2 GB). A UDF DVD will accept files that are much larger. ISOs on the other hand can be any size as long as your machines file system (NTFS in your case) supports it. Under Fat32, the ISO must be smaller than 4.2GB.
When I click the "Burn Disc" button, a message pops up that says please insert an empty disc. If it is a CD-RW, DVD-RW, or DVD-RAM it may need to be erased. For other discs: They may be full or the disc has been finalized.
Why is the burn speed showing different than the speed of my drive? The speed showing is the speed that the CD or DVD inserted is rated at. With no disc in the drive the Max speed is displayed.
I have a new batch of CD's but every time I burn one it errors out. It is not uncommon to get a bad batch of CDs or DVDs that may cause errors. If a CD/DVD does not play or work after you have burned the medium, choose another medium type or brand and repeat the burning process. Eventually, you may have to lower the burning speed. Many devices are not compatible with cheap or old media (blanks). How are Grade A, Grade B, and Grade C CD-R discs defined? Are they all usable?
I burned a CD or DVD, but the disc contents are not visible in the Windows Explorer. Try ejecting the CD, and re-inserting it, sometimes the Windows files system will not update immediately. In Windows 98/Me a reboot is recommended.

What is the difference between an MP3 CD and an Audio CD?. An MP3 CD is disc burned in data mode, as opposed to Red Book format with standard audio CDs. An MP3 CD can hold about 200 songs while a standard Audio CD will max out at about 15.
I burned an Audio CD but it will not play in my home or car stereo. 1. Check to ensure that the files on the burned CD have the .cda extension. 2. Does it play in your computer's CD drive? 3. If it works in your computer, and has .cda files on it, the Stereo may be too old to handle CD-R discs. Some older Stereos have trouble with burned music CD's, especially the chrome ones that don't really have a solid back color. A good quality CD blank with a solid back side color, can really make a difference. Some of the cheaper B grade CD's can cause all sorts of issues.. How are Grade A, Grade B, and Grade C CD-R discs defined? Are they all usable?
Can I burn an Audio CD then later add more songs to the disc? No... Audio CD's can only be burned once; they are always closed after the burning is complete. Audio CD's are always closed or they will not play in your home stereo.
I am a long time user, but today the burner will not allow me to drag and drop files for burning.? Another installed program may have replaced critical components that the Cheetah Burner software requires to run. Just uninstall the old one and re-install this one. DVD Related Issues. There are a number of issues revolving around DVD recording because it is such a new technology. Many operating systems have issues with some of the DVD formats, especially when it comes to multi-session DVDs. Every format has it's good and bad points. DVD recording is not as simple as CD recording for many reasons. Mainly, CD has only two media types to contend with: CD-R and CD-R/W. DVD currently has five media formats: DVD+R,DVD+R/W,DVD-R,DVD-R/W, and DVD-RAM. These multiple formats can really complicate things, especially since some Operating Systems and drives do not correctly identify, and/or read the data from these formats. File sizes and multiple session considerations are very important. Caching a DVD is not needed and will fail if the image exceeds 4.2GB (the size of a 32 bit unsigned long). FAT32 will not allow a file larger than this. NTFS will allow this, but not everyone has NTFS. Incremental writing with Loss-less linking makes caching an unnecessary step for DVD.

Multi-session DVD discs may not be readable by some operating systems below Windows XP. Multi-session DVD discs may not be readable if the subsequent sessions exceed 2.0GB. The first session can be of any allowable size. This rule only applies to DVD-R and DVD+R. DVD-RAM, DVD-R/W, and DVD+R/W do not have this issue because the have an overwrite mode and are not seen the same way by the operating system. These media types are seen as one session no matter how many times they have been appended. DVD+R/W and DVD-RAM discs cannot be closed. They are always complete. This is because they are random access media and can always be overwritten. DVD+R/W and DVD-RAM will always show the free disc space as the entire possible formatted area because of the random access nature. Unlike any other Packet writing software, no formatting is necessary prior to recording. This is handled internally as needed in a "quick format" or 'background format' mode transparent to the user. DVD-R/RW can take a long time to close sessions (3-5 minutes). This depends on the drive.

I entered the product registration key, then the next time I ran the program, it asked for the product registration key again. (Windows Vista, and Server 2003).
