Project Brief

Building a next-generation Peppol-certified Access Point and SMP service for


global e-invoicing compliance. The developed project will simplify e-invoicing
infrastructure and make interoperability seamless for ERP providers and SMEs
alike.

Backend Engineer JD -
Looking for a backend engineer to help us develop our Peppol Access Point
implementation from the ground up.

Role Overview: As a Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for building,


testing, and maintaining the core services that enable secure AS4 messaging
over the Peppol eDelivery Network. You will work closely with the founders and
architects to implement the Peppol AS4 Profile, handle secure message
exchange, and integrate with AWS services for a highly available cloud-native
deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement backend services using Java (Spring Boot) to support Peppol


AS4 messaging
• Integrate with Peppol SMP and SML infrastructure for dynamic
participant discovery
• Handle secure message packaging using SOAP, XML Digital Signatures,
and AS4 standards
• Manage TLS certificates and implement WS-Security for
signature/encryption/decryption
• Build reliable asynchronous communication flows
• Collaborate with DevOps to containerize and deploy services on AWS
• Write clean, testable, bug-free code and maintain detailed technical
documentation

Must Have Skills

• 2+ years’ experience with backend development in Java (Spring Boot


preferred) and any relational / non-relational database
• Strong knowledge of XML, JSON, Avro etc.
• Experience writing web services using SOAP and RESTful APIs
• Strong understanding of message queuing, retries, and idempotent
design patterns
• Hands-on experience of building services on AWS, at least – AWS S3,
EC2, Dynamo DB, VPC, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudFormation etc.
• Familiarity with Git (for versional control), Maven/Gradle (for building
code), and CI/CD pipelines (for deployment)

Good To Have Skills

• Advanced AWS: AWS WAF/Shield, Route 53, ECS, Fargate, AWS CDK
etc.
• Knowledge of security concepts like TLS, WS-Security, encryption,
decryption, digital signatures etc.
• Knowledge of Peppol eco-system and using concepts like AS4 and
SML/SMP
