DATA VISUALIZATION

Fundamental principles of effective data visualization.

Data visualization is all about taking complex info and turning it into
visual stories. It’s a mix of art and science.

Benefits of Effective Data Visualization

•A clearer message: Think about it. You’re more likely to remember that
wild, colorful graph than a page of numbers.
•Faster decision-making: It’s like seeing a red light while driving. No
need to read a sign; you just stop.
•Easy spotting of patterns: It’s the difference between looking at a starry
sky and a mapped constellation. Patterns just pop!
1. LINE CHARTS
A line chart connects distinct data points through straight lines.
Its best use case is to illuminate trends, patterns, and variable
changes.

This type of chart is also effective for demonstrating

progression, making them suitable for scenarios like project
timelines, production cycles, or population growth.

Types of Line Charts
• Simple line chart: a single line
• Multiple line chart: compares several trends
• Compound line chart: stacked series showing cumulative
values, they show layers of data and allow you to see the
proportion that makes the total.
BAR CHART is a graphical representation used to
display and compare discrete categories of data through
rectangular bars, where the length or height of each bar
is proportional to the frequency or value of the
corresponding category.

PIE CHART is a
pictorial representation
of data. The slices of
pie here shows the
relative (percentage)
sizes of data.
PICTOGRAM
A types of charts and graphs that use icons and images to
represent data. Also known as “pictographs”, “icon
charts”, “picture charts”, and “pictorial unit charts”,
pictograms use a series of repeated icons to visualize
simple data.
