1. SUM FUNCTION
The SUM function in excel adds the numerical values in a range of cells. Being
categorized under the Math and Trigonometry function, it is entered by typing
"=SUM" followed by the values to be summed.
Syntax
=SUM(number1,[number2],…)
Output: -
4
2. AVERAGE FUNCTION
Returns the average (arithmetic mean) of the arguments.
For example, if the range A1:A20 contains numbers, the formula
=AVERAGE(A1:A20) returns the average of those numbers.
Syntax
=AVERAGE(range)
Output: -
5
3. IF FUNCTION
The IF function is one of the most popular functions in Excel, and it allows you
to make logical comparisons between a value and what you expect. So an IF
statement can have two results. The first result is if your comparison is True,
the second if your comparison is False.
Syntax
=IF(A2>100,”True”,”False”)
Output: -
6
4. COUNT
The COUNT Function is an Excel Statistical function. ... This function helps count
the number of cells that contain a number, as well as the number of arguments
that contain numbers. It will also count numbers in any given array. It was
introduced in Excel in 2000.
Syntax
=COUNT(range)
Output: -
7
5. COUNTA
The COUNTA function counts cells containing any type of information,
including error values and empty text (""). For example, if the range contains a
formula that returns an empty string, the COUNTA function counts that value.
The COUNTA function does not count empty cells.
Syntax
=COUNTA(range)
Output: -
8
6. TRIM FUNCTION
The Excel TRIM function strips extra spaces from text, leaving only a single space
between words and no space characters at the start or end of the text
Syntax
=TRIM(text)
Output: -
9
7. MAX FUNCTION
The MAX Function is categorized under Excel Statistical functions. MAX will
return the largest value in a given list of arguments. From a given set of numeric
values, it will return the highest value
Syntax
=MAX(number1,[number2],…)
Output: -
10
8. MIN FUNCTION
The Excel MIN function returns the smallest numeric value in the data
provided. The MIN function ignores empty cells, the logical values TRUE and
FALSE, and text values. Get the smallest value. Number1-Number, reference to
numeric value, or range that contains numeric values.
Syntax
=MIN(number1,[number2],…)
Output: -
11
9. SORTING
Sorting in Excel is arranging data according to our requirements. It can be done
alphabetically or numerically. Basic Sorting works when sorting is to do on only
one column. Advanced Sorting is used in multi-level sorting, viz sorting required
in 2 or more than 2 columns.
1. Select a single cell in the column you want to sort.
2. On the Data tab, in the Sort& Filter group, click. to perform an ascending sort
(from A to Z, or smallest number to largest).
3. Click. to perform a descending sort (from Z to A, or largest number to
smallest).
12
10. LINE CHART
Line charts are used to display trends over time. Use a line chart if you have text
labels, dates or a few numeric labels on the horizontal axis.
Create a line chart
1. Copy the example worksheet data into a blank worksheet, or open the
worksheet that contains the data that you want to plot into a line chart....
2. Select the data that you want to plot in the line chart.
3. Click the Insert tab, and then click Insert Line or Area Chart.
4. Click Line with Markers.
13
11. BAR GRAPH
A bar chart (or a bar graph) is one of the easiest ways to present your data in
Excel, where horizontal bars are used to compare data values. Here's how to
make and format bar charts in Microsoft Excel.
To make a bar graph in Excel
1. Highlight the range of data you want to represent. You can either click and
drag for several neighbouring columns..
2. Click on "Insert" in the top toolbar, then click on the Bar Chart icon in the
Charts group...
3. Within any graph type, you can represent your data as clustered or stacked .
14
12. PIE CHART
Pie charts are used to display the contribution of each value (slice) to a total
(pie). Pie charts always use one data series.
For Example:-
15
13. SPSS
SPSS Statistics is a statistical software suite developed by IBM for data
management, advanced analytics, multivariate analysis, business intelligence,
criminal investigation. Long produced by SPSS Inc., it was acquired by IBM in
2009. Current versions (post 2015) have the brand name: IBM SPSS Statistics.
The software name originally stood for Statistical Package for the Social Sciences
(SPSS). reflecting the original market, then later changed to Statistical Product
and Service Solutions.
