The Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI) under the aegis of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) was established in 1958 at Durgapur (W.B.) for conducting research & development in the field of Mechanical Engineering. To address industrial needs of Northern region MERADO, Ludhiana was set up in the year 1965. It has supported local industry with state of art product innovations in the area of the Mechanical Engineering. MERADO developed technologies have been transferred to satisfaction regarding of industry for commercial production. Thus MERADO has contributed towards industrial growth. addressed societal issues concerning population. Also, MERADO has millions of Indian quality,

DESIGN GROUP
Design Group is equipped with a number of workstations (networked) with modern software tools like ADAMS, Nastran, Cosmos Motion, Inventor, Solidworks, Autocad etc. With these assets, innovation can be driven through shorter product development cycle for global technological competitiveness. This group also undertakes development of various types of special purpose machines.
MANUFACTURING GROUP
The final proof of innovation to customers is through demonstrated results of prototype. Prototype development involves complex manufacturing processes, precision manufacturing, heat treatment capabilities and allied areas. To facilitate this, MERADO has equipped with a state of the art facility that comprises 5-axis CNC Universal Mill, CNC Turn Mill Centre, Precision Cylindrical Grinder, and Jig Boring etc.
BIO FUEL GROUP

Biofuel has merited itself as potential fuel for tomorrow. Biofuel laboratories addressing to biodiesel and biogas have been setup. The group along with the state of art facilities can undertake consultancy, development and testing in biofuel area.
TESTING GROUP
METROLOGY
Metrology facilities have traceability to National and there by International standards. Calibration of instruments and gauges as per ISO standard is undertaken. The metrology lab is well equipped to cater for industrial needs in the field of dimensional metrology.
NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING
Equipped with state of art equipment and qualified, trained & experienced manpower to support Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MPT) and Dye Penetrant Testing (DPT).
DESTRUCTIVE TESTING
Mechanical testing of materials like hardness, tensile & compressive strength, bending & impact strength, pressure gauge testing and calibration etc.
BIOFUEL TESTING
Fuel properties like fuel constituents, calorific value, flash & fire point, cloud & pour point, carbon residue content etc and biogas properties like methane & CO2 content, fertilizer -NPK content, pH etc. can be determined.
CENTRE FOR PRECISION & CONSERVATION FARMING MACHINERY (CPCFM)

Major goal of the Centre for Precision & Conservation Farming Machinery (CPCFM) will be accelerated R&D efforts to enhance agricultural productivity through development machinery in selected areas to bridge the existing mechanization gaps with International scenario and to facilitate precision & conservation farming.
